It’s time to paint up a Flesh Eaters Mortarch Ushoran in this week’s Hobby Highlight!

Today I am showing how to paint Ushoran, Mortarch of Delusion, for Age of Sigmar.

The brand new Ushoran is a gross gem of a model for Age of Sigmar. Filled with details and a huge display base, the twisted Mortarch is creepy and evocative. I departed from a scheme that matches our studio Flesh Eater Courts army, which is pale, with dark fur and gory blood.

Ushoran Paint Scheme

The first models in this army were painted with a pale and sickly flesh, but I wanted the Mortarch to look more vital. Since he is technically a different subfaction than the rest of the army (our FEC are Blisterkin, while Ushoran is Hollowmourne), a different color scheme is totally appropriate. I decided to really set off the model, he would have a majestic and flowing, white cape. The rest of the army used some model railway flowers of a nice pink and yellow variety, but they were both challenging to use and discontinued. To replace them, I used some brightly colored (same palette) Gamer Grass tufts. Now that is out of the way, let’s paint up Ushoran!
