From the delicious to the adorable to the authentic and everything in between, this week we’re cooking up some tasty anime-inspired treats.

I just started watching Food Wars for the first time… and I’ve got some notes. It’s enjoyable enough, and it’s nice to have a show that doesn’t require me to think a single thought when I’m up at all hours of the night with an infant. But also… why? Why is any of that happening?

You know what I’m talking about! I knew it was coming, but I’m still just so perpetually perplexed by every episode. But the food always looks delicious. And just like in Ghibli films, it’s hard to not think, “I’d like to make that for myself!” So let’s cook up some tasty treats of our own with these food prep anime accessories.

1. The Anime Chef Cookbook

There are a ton of different anime cookbooks out there. So depending on your favorite show or character’s specialty, there just might be a book out there for you. But this one is a pretty good overview of some of the more iconic meals from a variety of shows.

2. Bake Anime

This is the same exact idea but with baked goods. It has a pretty good mix of Japanese and non-Japanese sweets as well as foods from the screen and others that are inspired by our favorite characters. So if you want to eat the strawberry shortcake from Ouran Host Club, or some apple cream puffs that look like Totoro, this book will show you how.

3. Easy Bento Cookbook

Or if you’re a little more serious about cooking and want to make some more traditional Japanese foods, something like Easy Bento may be a better pick. And then you can have envy-worthy lunches that look beautiful every day!

4. Clacifer Frying Pan

Of course, there are anime-inspired cooking tools that aren’t just cookbooks out there. This Calcifer frying pan will help you prepare the morning eggs for your local wizard. Or, will cook his little flame face into some pancakes. Just don’t let the bacon burn. You know Calcifer is cursing your bacon to burn so be extra careful!

5. Househusband Apron

In Way of the Househusband, Tatsu makes everyday tasks like errands and meal prep sound like a battle of life and death. And he does a lot of it in this apron. To me, this is much funnier than those ‘kiss me I’m whatever’ aprons. And besides being a silly anime reference, it will keep your clothing dry and stain-free. Win/win!

Oh hey! BoLS might make a little dolla-dolla if you decide to buy these items. We need that money to buy raw meat to feed to our carnivorous plant from outer space. If we don’t feed him, he’ll turn on us.
