After two D&D cookbooks, it was only a matter of time. Now, behold the latest D&D crossover: a cocktail book called Puncheons & Flagons.

There was a time, not that long ago, when one of the many running jokes for D&D players went something like, “I would like one alcohol please,” to indicate that alcohol was one of the many things that RPGers were clueless about. And then everyone realized just how big a nerd you could be about alcohol.

It’s not that drinking is cool, it’s just that people got as nerdy about it as they do about D&D. So naturally, there’s a D&D Cocktail book coming from the Ten Speed Press. Titled Puncheons & Flagons, this book will deliver exactly what it says on the tins.

Puncheons & Flagons – The D&D Cocktail Book coming in August

Here’s a quick look at the announcement:

Puncheons & Flagons is a delightful and fun-filled cocktail, mocktail, and snacks book filled with fare that would be served up at your character’s favorite tavern, inn, or market along the Sword Coast. All seventy-five dishes are created by a professional recipe developer and are easy to prepare. Each recipe features exciting background lore by award-winning author Wheeler and provides everything you need for hosting and entertaining with D&D flair.

Puncheons & Flagons also features helpful tips and techniques for first-time mixologists, including a guide to starting your own home bar. Drinks and dishes are organized by in-world drinking establishment and by base ingredient with options for every occasion—especially game nights!—including:

    • Adventurous cocktails such as Necromancer and Hand of Vecna
    • Batch cocktails such as Candlekeep Tea and Faerie Fire
    • Nonalcoholic concoctions such as Mourning Cup and Baldurian Tonic
    • Tasty morsels such as Luiric Rarebit and High Sun Florentines

Exactly what you’d expect. Just like the Heroes’ Feast cookbooks, which we’ve previously covered, Puncheons & Flagons looks to capture the flavor of D&D as well as the flavor of several different drinks. With advice for people who haven’t made drinks meant to be enjoyed out of anything other than a big plastic trash can that you sort of remember from college, or who have never made them before, there’s an easy jumping-on point.

Now you too can serve up the same kinds of drinks your characters will be settling into. Because every recipe is flavored with D&D lore. So you can sprinkle in new cocktails and drinks when your characters go to the tavern. Order a Hand of Vecna. Or a Rod of Seven Shots.

I know I would.

Puncheons & Flagons releases August 27th!
