Osgood Perkins’s latest horror movie focuses on a series of occult murders. Check out the first foreboding trailer for Longlegs.

Neon has been releasing teasers and images for Osgood Perkins’s new horror movie for a couple of months. Each holds clues to what’s next, building hype. The marketing so far has been fantastic. Other studios need to take note.

The first full trailer has finally arrived, and it’s creepy. It’s paired with a lyric from “Get It On (Bang a Gong)” by T. Rex – why isn’t entirely clear at this point.

“You’ve got the teeth of the hydra upon you.”

The story focuses on Lee Harker, an FBI agent assigned to work on an unsolved serial killer case. As she investigates the complicated case, she discovers evidence of the occult and a personal link to the killer that puts her in danger. She has to prevent another death before it’s too late.

The previews for this year’s slate of horror movies have been filled with moody, unsettling footage that doesn’t reveal the bulk of the plot or the most shocking sequences. This is no different – and I’m thankful for it. You can feel Nic Cage’s serial killer all over this trailer, but we only see a fleeting glimpse of the actor.

Longlegs Cast & Details

The cast is led by Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe, who are joined by Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood in unknown roles. Longlegs is written and directed by Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House).

FBI Agent Lee Harker is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes unexpected turns, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again

Longlegs premieres in theaters on July 12.
