Come check out this week’s batch of crowdfunding and Kickstarter highlights – including board games, RPGs, and STLs!

Shogun – Revised Edition

Shogun has been around for nearly 20 years and immediately became a favorite for area control wargamers. This revised edition adds upgraded components with optional expansion boxes as well. Whether you’re a longtime fan or brand new, you’ll find a backer option for you here.

In Shogun, each player assumes the role of a great Daimyo with all his troops. Each Daimyo has the same 10 possible actions to develop his empire and secure points. Castles, temples, and theaters replace the infrastructure of Wallenstein (as rice replaces wheat), creating a thematic experience for players who wish to move their exploits east to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Doppel: Bringing Your RPG Characters to Life

Making your own miniature is great, like with HeroForge, but that can take a while and you only get the one mini when it’s all said and done. Doppel is a new dynamic spin on what it means to be a mini even with sound effects!

Picture this: as game day arrives, your character’s portrait illuminates the Doppel screen, instantly setting you apart at the gaming table. Whether it’s the enchanting melodies of magical chants or the thunderous clash of swords, Doppel’s immersive sound effects will captivate everyone in the room as you take your turn.

But Doppel offers more than just visual and auditory enhancements. With the intuitive app you can access your character’s information with a few taps of the screen. And with the turn assistant feature, you’ll never miss a beat, ensuring you’re always ready to seize the moment. With Doppel, the power to switch between characters seamlessly gives you the freedom to embody any miniature you desire.

Super Boss Monster

Relive the golden days of SNES gaming with Super Boss Monster! Command your minions, battle heroes, and more with this updated version of the decade-old classic. With new mechanics (solo mode!), new art, and fully backward compatible with the current version, this is the version to get!

After a decade of dungeon-building fun, Boss Monster is leveling up to the next generation with Super Boss Monster! 1-4 players compete to build the ultimate side-scrolling dungeon by drafting room cards, playing spells, and luring in hapless adventurers.

Super Boss Monster introduces the Town Board, which brings in new mechanics to the classic card game. Random room draws are replaced with a simple draft. Heroes still show up in town, but overflow into Locations (Temple, Stadium, Library, Hide-Out, and Tavern) where players can nab them with your all-new Minion meeple! If players choose to not use their Minion to direct a hero, Minions can activate other action spaces.

Surviving Strangehollow: Hand-Painted 5E

When you see an RPG campaign with good art that doesn’t necessarily mean the content will be any good, but it can be a good indication that it is. That’s absolutely the case for Surviving Strangehollow. With handpainted art for the 10 new subclasses, 70+ new creatures, and new rules for in and out of combat, this one’s got it all.

Surviving Strangehollow is a supplement and setting for D&D 5E (and the upcoming new edition) based on the hand-painted watercolors of Emily Hare. Strangehollow is unlike anything in the current 5E landscape. The stories highlight elements similar to Grimms’ Fairy Tales, Labrynth, The Last Unicorn, and a bit of Alice in Wonderland.

The new systems and setting materials can be used in any campaign, or stand-alone to allow gaming groups to craft stories specific to Strangehollow. The material is suitable for most ages (12+) and augments the existing rules established in the 5E SRD (core books). As a bonus, we have timed this campaign and publication to allow us to match our rules and options to mesh with the next version of D&D, releasing later this year!

The Captain’s Logbook: 5E High Seas Adventure & Shipbuilding

When flipping through Kickstarter to bring you the new highlights, I can’t always pinpoint what makes one campaign stand out over another. But here? I just friggin’ love nautical adventures. Set a D&D campaign on the high seas and (ba-da-da-da-da) I’m lovin’ it.

The Captain’s Logbook is a campaign setting compatible with 5E Dungeons and Dragons. With over 200 pages, those seeking danger and excitement on the high seas will find treasure galore! Players and DMs, unfurl your sails with new sailing and ship combat mechanics while you explore one of our 20+ islands. Our setting even includes options for boat acquisition and customization.

So hoist your anchors and set sail on a new nautical experience: exclusive new classes, magic items, monsters, and more. All designed to immerse DMs and players in the world of the ocean.
