Mantic Games has given us a preview of the upcoming Halo: Flashpoint at GAMA. It’s time to call in Spartan support!

Our folks at GAMA have just gotten a first look at the new Halo: Flashpoint game, and things are looking promising. The minis look spot on, the rules seem quick and intuitive, and the skirmish fights look fun and intense! We can’t wait to get our hands on this one. And if you can’t either, be sure to check out Mantic’s booth at Adepticon and snag a demo for yourself. But enough yappin’—it’s time for some pics.

Halo: Flashpoint At GAMA

Here’s a pair of painted minis they had set up for the demo. So far, so good. In scale, they are similar to Mantic’s Deadzone. It’s designed to be very simple to pick up and play with relatively fast gameplay. Each character comes with a card that has their stats and abilities. The core system uses a D8 for the dice. Special D6 dice are also used. You can modify (grow) your dice by having advantages like being at a higher elevation.

Much like in the video game (well, in multiplayer) you can respawn back in after a kill. The board will have various respawn points and when a character comes back they suffer a penalty as they have fewer abilities.

The demo was setup on a 2’x 2′ board and you’ll probably want at least 12″ of vertical space. This is a 3D game.

There will be two editions coming. One is called Spartan Edition the other is Recon Edition.

Just a note on these boxes — they are prototypes and not the final versions of these boxes. You’ll get some punch-out terrain and the rules in the boxes as well.

The first box will feature Spartans vs Spartans with blue and red plastics (I see what you did there Mantic). This is designed as a quick intro set to get folks in the game and learning to play.

The game will be expanded in the future…

You knew the Elites were coming with their covenant weapons, right!?

Halo: Flashpoint is coming to retail in the Fall of 2024. If you’re going to Adepticon look out for Mantic’s booth for a gameplay demo …and a certain Master Chief sighting.

Update: Mantic did mention that Organized Play for Halo: Flashpoint is in the pipeline, too. So get ready for a whole new type of Halo league.
