Baldur’s Gate 3 has a new patch (patch 7) coming, and with it comes new endings for your darker inclinations, including a dark sun.

I mean, it might not be a dark sun/total eclipse situation. It could just be a murder moon. I don’t know because the patch isn’t out yet. But if you’ve played Baldur’s Gate 3, you know just how evil you can get. Actually, you probably don’t.

People keep stumbling on to new wrinkles in the game, new depths of depravity all the time. For instance, in a recent playthrough, I ended up killing Jaheira and everyone at Last Light Inn just because they tried to restrain me. Did it mean Act 2 was a bit confusing and empty? Sure. Did I miss out on a lot of quests? Probably. I may never know.

And that’s just one choice. You can do all sorts of horrid things. Like killing the Tieflings. Or giving Scratch back to the courier company when he doesn’t want to go back, because you’re an absolute monster.

The point is that there are many ways to be evil, and it doesn’t just involve killing everyone, though it frequently does. A developer update reveals some striking new images that convey a sense of how the world might end up, depending on your choices.

Baldur’s Gate 3 – Patch 7

You decide. Is it an eclipse or like A Dark Souls 3 kinda sun type thing?

Per Larian’s announcement:

We’re working on our next game update, Patch 7, which will add improved evil endings to the game for even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs, and yes, that includes you non-Durge players. These new cinematic cutscenes have also been given the musical treatment by our very own BAFTA award-winning composer, Borislav Slavov.

Accompanying the post are two GIFs that hint at what’s to come. On the one hand, we see the default Dark Urge stalking through a field of corpses drowned in blood as an ominous celestial orb hangs in the sky. Talk about taking your Bhaal and going home.

In another, we see a figure psionically blasting/dominating a crowd of kneeling subjects while the town burns around them.

There’s also a snippet of some of the new music:

But Patch 7 takes aim at many more things, including a much sought-after photo mode! Larian might be done with Baldur’s Gate 3, but they’re not done yet. Here’s a glimpse of what we can look forward to:

This next patch will also begin introducing our official modding tools, letting you change up visuals, animations, sounds, stats, and more to overhaul Baldur’s Gate 3 into the weird nightmare realm of your dreams.

Beyond Patch 7, we will continue focusing on bug fixes, performance enhancements, and stability improvements to ensure you have the best possible gaming experience. And yes, we are also actively working on bringing Crossplay and a Photo Mode to Baldur’s Gate 3, but the work required to bring these to you means that these additions will likely be further down the road.

No release date for the patch yet, but expect it sometime soon!
