Come check out this week’s batch of crowdfunding and Kickstarter highlights—including board games, RPGs, and STLs!

Aqua ROVE – A Button Shy Wallet Game

What if I told you there is a game company out there with hundreds of highly rated games and there’s a decent chance you’ve never even heard of them? Well, I very well might be talking about Button Shy Games. They make literally over a hundred of these wallet games that, as the name suggests, could easily fit in your pocket. They’re fun, quick, and well worth the price.

ROVE is a solo-only spatial puzzle game in which you move your ROVE’s modules around to complete various patterns required by your current mission. First published in 2021, this cute and quirky robot has had quite a few adventures!

The Eternaut – The Board Game

I won’t claim to know anything about Eternaut, but a quick internet search tells me it’s a sci-fi comic series. What I do know about the board game is enough to get me interested. It’s a cooperative scenario-based game where players will build out the map as they explore the streets of Buenos Aires after a mysterious disaster left most of the citizens dead. Consider me hooked.

The Eternaut – the board game – is set in the same universe as the Eternaut, but the story is different. You will not follow the adventure of Juan Salvo, but you will lead a group of Survivors of Buenos Aires. The game, anyway, touches many times the original story: you may interact with some iconic protagonists from the comic, participate in the River Plate assault, and explore many other locations shown in the original story.

Tiny Epic Game of Thrones

I love the Tiny Epic series. I backed many of them on my own, including Tactics and Dungeon (I have a type, I know). And like many fantasy nerds, I got sucked into the world of Westeros by Game of Thrones. Gamelyn has a great track record. I still haven’t seen the last episode of the series, so maybe I’ll do that first? I tried to avoid any spoilers.

Prepare to navigate the perilous world of Westeros with Tiny Epic Game of Thrones, where alliances are fragile, betrayals are common, and the fate of your House hangs in the balance. Players will assume the roles of the mighty houses of the Seven Kingdoms, each vying for power, influence, and control of the Iron Throne.

As you step into the shoes of iconic characters, you’ll face challenging dilemmas, engage in intricate political maneuvering, and wage epic battles for supremacy. Will you forge powerful alliances with other noble houses, or will you plot their downfall to seize their lands and resources? The choices you make will have far-reaching consequences, affecting not only your House but the entire realm. Can you outwit your rivals and ensure the survival and prosperity of your House in the unforgiving Game of Thrones?

Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala

Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala was one of the first games I ever backed on Kickstarter! Since then, they’ve added a ton of expansions and new content. On top of being a super solid and fun strategy game, the minis are fantastic!

EPICS OF VALERNA greatly increases player options and enhances the importance of regions in the board. It also features epic player boards to customize your characters in their quest for Power. This expansion is fully compatible with all others and is the one that adds the most variability and narrative immersion.

The Book of Blighted Baubles

There’s something very meta about this Kickstarter campaign. It’s like it’s cursed to be ever more growing as more people pledge loyalty to it, the tome growing more powerful. I realize it’s just how stretch goals work, but let me have this! It fits thematically!

Within its pages, you’ll discover an enchanting array of 50 magical and non-magical items, each imbued with a mischievous curse. But wait, there’s more! For every $200 pledged, a brand new cursed item will materialize, adding to the book’s ever-growing collection of delightful misfortunes. So, come one, come all, and let The Book of Blighted Baubles take you on a whimsical journey through the world of cursed treasures!
