A new balance path for Helldivers 2 raises the level cap, unleashes new ways to die, and makes dying in the distant future even more fun.

Helldivers 2, is a game that shares many things with 40K, including the approximate life span of its non-transhuman supersoldiers. Helldivers and Astra Militarum members know well, their duty is to die in droves for either Super Earth or Holy Terra. And both are lucky to make it to fifteen minutes without suffering some kind of fatal blow on the battlefield.

But perhaps the biggest thing Helldivers 2 shares with 40K is the need for balancing. A new patch, delivered today, addresses some of the balance issues facing the sci-fi third-person dystopia shooter. While the Terminid and Automaton menace reel from recent blows, the game itself gets a major overhaul, including an option for higher-level Helldivers.

Helldivers 2 New Update Raises Level Cap

Just a day after victorious Helldivers liberated the planet Malevelon Creek from the dogmatic forces of socialist robots, developer Arrowhead Game Studios dropped a major patch for Helldivers 2. With it, come rebalanced weapons, fixes to stratagems, and of course, a raising of both the level cap and the bar for Helldivers.

Patch 0.1.000.200, available now, allows Helldivers to progress past Level 50, all the way up to level 150. Alongside the new level capacity is a laundry list of new ways to die in the name of managed democracy, including blizzards, sandstorms, and soon, flying gunships.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Players who have been beating their heads against planetary defense campaigns will be relieved to see that Retrieve Essential Personnel missions have been made easier. Planetary modifiers that decrease the availability of your essential stratagems have been dialed down, and armor seems to actually function as, well, armor.

This, plus a number of weapon changes, including an increase in fire damage over time, and a big boost to the Anti-Materiel Rifle, which has been in need of it. Of course, if you were thinking Arrowhead was throwing players a bone, all Bile Titans are now immune to stun.
