It’s time for the new Solar Auxilia to get some painting attention this Hobby Highlight!

Today I am showing one of the new Solar Auxilia models for Horus Heresy.

The new plastic Solar Auxilia kits for Horus Heresy are a great continuation of the line that started in pure Forge World resin. Design-wise, they are almost identical to their resin counterparts, although plastic has increased both the number of available options and potential posability. I built up a nice Legate Marshal using the Tactical Command Section kit.

Legate Marshal Assemble!

This kit is surprisingly easy to put together and track parts during assembly, and nothing is too busy. While each model is composed of many parts, it isn’t too many. My only complaint overall is the fiddliness of some bits. The should pads, in particular, require a deft hand for placement. I’m sure the attendants of the Solar Auxilia have become skilled at it.

Solar Auxilia Paint Scheme

My thoughts for my Solar Auxilia forces actually ended up centering around ancient Tallarn. A force of lumbering desert tanks, loyalist or not? So I wanted nice desert armour that would look good on my infantry and vehicles. Fortunately, the models present a lot of armour but also a nice mix of textures.
