X-Men ’97 is a big hit for Disney+ with its updated storylines, classic animation, and iconic heroes. The series picks up where the original animated series dropped off. After Xavier’s death at the end of the original series, the team has to keep his goal of a world where mutants aren’t persecuted and live in harmony with the rest of humanity. Anti-mutant protests continue, armed forces prepare for battle, and an old frenemy takes a new role in a new battle.

The animated series brings back much of the voice cast (including Cal Dodd as Wolverine), as well as the original’s Jim Lee-inspired animation style with a few modern tweaks. It also revamps the iconic intro with the gets stuck in your head opening music.

The show’s finale drops this Wednesday, May 1st, but you still have time to binge-watch the rest of the series before then. It’s fantastic. The new series is enjoyable, even if you haven’t seen the original run (which is streaming on Disney+ now).
