Warhammer 40K: The ‘Other’ Preview Show Predictions
Games Workshop is ramping up for a big preview for Age of Sigmar on Thursday. And then on Saturday It’s Grimdark time!
We are all well aware that Games Workshop has some big plans for the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar reveals for the next edition. There’s a celebrity Spearhead game as well as the reveal of all the goodies in the box — and more. But there’s so much cool stuff to talk about that they had to schedule another showcase for 40k on Saturday, too!
Well, with that in mind, we had a few ideas/predictions/wish lists of things we want to see. So let’s dive in to a them right now!
Warhammer 40,000
I already talked about this a bit but I’m hoping we find out what’s up after the Chaos Space Marine codex drops. Yes, we know the Genestealer Cult is up on deck and so are the Adepta Sororitas. But there’s still the mystery army after them that we’re curious about. Also, what the heck is this thing!?
If that’s an Enslaver the 40k fans are going to lose it. And if it’s not, well, we’re still going to freak out when we find out what GW has planned. I do hope we don’t just gloss over the GSC and Sisters, however. I’m afraid we’re in an edition of “here’s a new character and/or unit and your codex” and move along. Hopefully GW has some more exciting stuff planned for 40k than just codex releases.
Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
I’m pretty sure we’re about to see a full revamp of the Mechanicus for the Horus Heresy era. This was teased during the AdeptiCon Preview. So odds are strong we’ll see them pop-up in the Age of Darkness. What sort of revamp will this be? That’s unclear! It does seem like GW is trying to differentiate their lines. They want to make 40k and Horus Heresy different enough that you need to collect different armies for each. They are doing a similar thing with Age of Sigmar and The Old World (look at the available armies for each).
Anyhow, it’s going to be interesting to see if they can make the Mechanicum in The Horus Heresy different enough from the Adeptus Mechanicus in 40k. I have a feeling on the hobby side folks are going to get a lot more creative either way…
Warhammer: Legions Imperialis
And speaking of the Horus Heresy…what’s GW’s next play for Legions Imperialis? Are we getting more Space Marine Kits? More Solar Auxilia kits? I dunno! Those two lines seem like they are pretty close in parity between the 40k scale and Epic scale now. Then again, GW did tease Mechanicum for HH, so are we about to see the Mechanicum range in Epic scale? If they manage to do a simultaneous release for both game systems that would be really impressive.
Necromunda
This was the last big teaser we got for Necromunda. It was just a short little splash screen with these silhouettes. I’m hoping we finally get a reveal for what the heck these are. I’m also a little worried that these are going to be Spyrers. It could be a new gang also — but I’m unsure! They look really well equipped. And there’s only five of them…Maybe a new crop of Bounty Hunters? Oh the possibilities!
