‘Critical Role’s 10-Year Anniversary Celebration Comes To Theaters For Four Nights Only

Critical Role marks ten years since a birthday game became a media empire with four nights of live shows in a movie theater near you.
Critical Role celebrates ten years this year. It seems hard to believe that the epic journey that has (so far) resulted in two animated series (with a third in the works), thousands of hours of gaming, novels, comics, whole RPGs, and even a video game all began a decade ago, with a game of Pathfinder of all things.
That’s right! Critical Role‘s epic adventure began as a Pathfinder game that was originally planned as a one-off for Liam O’Brien’s birthday. Two years later, give or take, the nascent Geek & Sundry approached them to stream their game, they converted to D&D and the rest is history. History you can celebrate this year with four different live shows that will be (re)broadcast in a movie theater near you (probably).
Critical Role‘s 10th Anniversary Shows Come To MovieTheater s
Critical Role is once again partnering with Fathom Entertainment in its “largest-ever theatrical distribution agreement”—meaning that this time the shows are coming to movie theaters across the US and Canada. Some 800 theaters in North America will be premiering the four nights of Critical Role live shows, coinciding with a tour of both Australia and parts of the US that the cast of Critical Role are taking to celebrate their major milestone.
It sll starts in June, when Critical Role kicks off its tour of Australia, with show recorded live in Sydney, and rebroadcast in theaters at 7pm “local time.” Wherever you are, 7pm is when you’ll be able to catch the show on June 19th. Same goes for the live show in Melbourne, which will air June 25th.
As well as the Critical Role show at Gen Con, August 2nd, or in New York City at Radio City Music Hall, on October 7th. Even if you can’t make it out to the live shows, there will likely be a theater near you where you can catch the show with a crowd of friends and fellow fans. Curious about the shows? Here’s what we know, from the CR press release:
Critical Role Live: Sydney and Melbourne, Australia – Tag Team and the Teeth; Matthew Mercer and the Critical Role cast return to the world of Exandria in these live shows captured at the ICC Sydney Theatre in Sydney (6/19) and the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne (6/25), where party members from separate campaigns join forces as they fight a common threat.
Critical Role Live: Indianapolis – Daggerheart in Exandria; Captured live from the Fishers Event center in Indianapolis. Mattheew Mercer and the cast return to the world of Exandria as the Bells Hells adventuring party, powered by Darrington Press’s new tabletop role-playing game Daggerheart.
Critical Role Live: NYC Radio City Music Hall; Love and peril live at the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York City, as two of our Mighty Nein lovebirds, Jester and Fjord, embark on their greatest adventure yet: MARRIAGE!

So now you can decide how you wanna do this (attend one of these live shows).
