If you’re looking for challenging brick builds, check out these LEGO Alien-inspired MOC kits, including the ship that started it all: the Nostromo.

My Own Creation—or MOC—is an unofficial LEGO-style brick kit created by fans. Many are for builders who want something more complicated. You’ll find a bunch of designs inspired by an IP that LEGO doesn’t have rights for or doesn’t allow, and/or with a look that official LEGO bricks can’t achieve. They come in a few forms, including directions with parts lists and bagged kits (like the ones below).

Project MOC is a group of brick fanatics that creates custom kits for folks looking for super complex builds that produce amazing display pieces. These LEGO Alien MOC kits come with instructions and bagged parts just like their official counterparts, making it really easy to get to building.

Some ambient mood to listen to while checking out the kits…

USCSS Nostromo

The USCSS Nostromo, registration number 1809246(09), is a modified Lockmart CM-88B Bison M-Class star freighter owned by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and captained by Arthur Dallas, registered out of Panama. The Nostromo operates as a tug, connecting to and pulling loads like a tractor-truck rather than carrying loads on board like a traditional freighter. That is, until Ripley blew it up.

This LEGO Alien MOC of the Nostromo offers the choice of off-brand and official LEGO parts; only digital instructions are available for this, but they’re included. Given how pricey official sets are nowadays, $700 for a 9k+ piece custom build with bagged parts is not a bad deal. And she’s big.

The Narcissus

The Narcissus, registration number 1809-E1, is one of the Nostromo’s shuttlecraft and lifeboats. It’s the ship Ripley (and Jones) used to escape the xenomorph at the end of the 1979 movie.

This set is designed by the same creator behind the Nostromo. It comes with digital instructions that consist of 680 pages and over 2,100 steps. This one will keep you busy for a while. You can also choose between off-brand and LEGO parts for an upcharge.

USS Sulaco is a Huge LEGO Alien MOC Kit

The Sulaco is named after a fictional town in Joseph Conrad’s 1904 novel Nostromo (the name of which was used for the USCSS Nostromo in the original Alien). A number of other ships in the franchise are named after elements from Conrad’s works as well, including the USCSS Patna (from Alien 3), the USS Verloc (from Aliens Versus Predator 2), the USS Marlow (from Aliens vs. Predator) and the USS Sephora (from Aliens: Colonial Marines).

When built, this set weighs nearly 20 pounds and is over 4 feet long. Make sure you have plenty of display space available. It comes with digital instructions, and you can choose between official and off-brand parts.
