Games Workshop seems to be hinting at a new edition of The Horus Heresy. But this is a really late entry if it’s an April Fools’ gag.

Okay, I’m not really sure what’s going on here. Games Workshop put out a new video teasing their new “Horus Hearsay” site. The video is certainly trying to be clever…

Clearly there’s something going on. The look into the camera says a LOT. So do we have a new edition coming or what?

Horus Hearsay – A New ‘Rumor’ Site

I’m not sure why GW is being coy about this one. They are both the developer and manufacturer — they don’t have to dance around this one. Then again, this is the same company that has the weekly Rumor Engine…so obviously they like to play around with the community, too.

Anyhow, the new site is up. It’s TheHorusHearsay.com, and you can go check it out for yourself. Here’s a list of “hot news” items they are teasing so far:

Apparently, a new boxed set is coming (probably a launch box), and it’s going to have dyed green sprues for the Salamanders. They are also alluding to them being push-fit.

I’m glad to see the Salamanders getting some attention in the Heresy Era. For 40k, I still think they are treated as a “side chapter” because they still don’t have any Salamander specific units beyond characters. They are treated as alternative Ultramarines with green armor, different rules, and a few unique characters, unlike the “main chapters” like Blood Angels, Dark Angels, and Space Wolves, who all have unique units and their own spin on some of the other traditional chapter roles.

Clearly, I don’t mean a “side chapter” in the lore; this is a First Founding Chapter—one of the original 18 legions. I want them to get more unique units in 40k proper. They SHOULD have some sweet Salamander specific units. Give me some unique Salamander Eradicators or Aggressors — and then we’ll talk. 40k /rant over.

That does look like a Leviathan Dreadnought leg. But those already exist in 30k and even have a Plastic Kit, too. So maybe it’s something different? It’s just a concept art sketch, so who really knows?

Okay, this one really is weird. There’s a funky D18 die being teased. I’m not even going to being to speculate on this one.

Anyhow, towards the bottom of the page there’s also a line that says “This is a Totally 100% Legit Warhammer Website” so…yeah. I mean, it IS from Games Workshop. But clearly they are having some fun with this site.

What do you think about this one? Is this just some weird marketing stunt? Are we getting a new edition? Or is GW just messing with folks?
