Marvel: Crisis Protocol – The Defenders Affiliation Pack Updates Explained

The Defenders are getting a new Affiliation Pack for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Time to check out the new goodies inside!
Atomic Mass Games released character and card updates for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. In those updates, quite a few characters got some love. A few of those updates included changes to characters also coming with the new Defenders Affiliation Pack. Now, we already did a bit of a breakdown for this pack and talked about some ways to expand on it.
That said, today we’re going to take a closer look at the character updates included with this Affiliation Pack. The good news is that the updated cards will included in the new box, too!
The Doctor Strange Character Updates
Doctor Strange got a few updates with the new card so we’re starting with him. The big one to note is that his old Leadership ability (Mystical Empowerment) got swapped over to a completely new version. Judgment of the Vishanti now allows for characters to apply the Hex condition to enemies if they do damage with an attack OR if the target is Threat Level 5 or more.
If you’re not familiar with the Hex condition it stops characters from getting to roll extra dice when they get a crit result. This can really mess with characters who roll a LOT of dice and can cut down on spike-damage (or defensive rolls) for sure. It also doesn’t cost any power to activate now — it just happens.
Another change is that Oshtur’s Refuge is now Range 3 instead of Range 2. This should allow Doctor Strange to stay back a bit further from his team and still support them. It also helps to synergize better with Hoggoth’s Hoary Wisdom in the sense that they are both Range 3. The final two changes to Doctor Strange are that he got 1 more stamina on his injured side and Eye of Agamotto now works on both attack and defense rolls.
The Daredevil Character Updates

Daredevil technically has a new card in the box — but it’s based on the update to the character that happened in 2023. So if you’ve got the old version of the character (from the old box) he’s got some changes. For starters, it’s worth noting the changes to both Baton Hook’s Pull timing. It also was able to ignore Stealth (probably on account of Daredevil being, ya know, Daredevil).
Another change was to Devil’s Deliverance. This one traded off some of the “extra” dice it could generate for becoming a base 6-dice attack. Overall, I think it ended up being more damaged in most cases. There’s also the new Leadership ability he has as well. That one is kind of a big deal — especially in this set.
Man Without Fear gives him a move before activating the Strike attack. This lets him close the gap and hopefully, get in range for the Strike in the first place. However, once he’s injured, that power is swapped out for Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. This power allows him to spend 2 energy to make a power 0 attack. Why would you want to do that? Because it doesn’t count as an action. That’s just a “bonus” attack at that point.
The Wong Character Updates
Wong also received a pair of nice updates. The first change is that he’s got 3 physical defense instead of 2 now. So that’s just a nice mini boost for a Threat 2 to have. The other change is that his Servant to the Sorcerer Supreme now works with an allied Stephen Vincent Strange instead of just Doctor Strange. This allows Wong to also assist the other version(s) of Doctor Strange in general.
Team Tactic Card Updates
There were some other Team Tactic Card updates in the 2025 updates which you can download here. That said, the new Defenders Affiliation Pack does include 7 team tactic cards. A few of them were included in those updates. I’m just tossing them in here with their pictures for completeness’ sake.
The Soul Gem is the same. But the Time Gem has changed and this box contains the most up-to-date version. Speaking of up-to-date, both the Seven Suns of Cinnibus and the Vapors of Valtorr got a tweak.
Both Heroes for Hire and Mystic Ward did not have any changes, but they are included in the box:
The same is also true for Street Smarts and Cover Me:
What About Luke Cage and Iron Fist?
So those two characters (while really good Threat Level 3 picks) didn’t get any updates to their cards — except for the update to the horizontal formatting. Again, for completeness, I’m adding their cards below.
That should do it for the cards and updates in the Defenders Affiliation Pack. Again, I think this is a great option for anyone looking to pick up these characters and start playing the Defenders Affiliation.
Some threats are too big for one Hero…
