Goatboy here with a rundown of GW’s three biggest misses from the new 40K 10th Edition World Eaters Codex.

Overall, I like the new 10th Edition World Eaters codex, and with some tweaks to the points, I can see a lot of life with the updated rules.  Yes, it is a different army, but it really feels like it can be a true pressure army with surprising shooting, decent board control, and some insanely brutal close combat heroics.  Still, there are some things I have to scratch my head about and wonder if we are paying for someone’s bad game versus the index World Eaters army.

World Eaters Miss – Angron is Sad

The first big miss I feel is the overall changes to Angron.  Yes, he could have been very annoying if he came back a lot, but I thought they fixed that by letting him only come back with 8 wounds.  The rest of the hits are just a bit too much. I don’t understand the shift to killing all your Blessings rolls to bring him back instead of just getting the triple 6’s and seeing if you have any other combos to add to it.

On top of that, he only comes back in your next reinforcement step, which is also a huge hit.  I am hoping we get this datasheet updated in the future when he stops showing up in armies.  In some ways, I am glad as he isn’t really needed, but it is still kind of sad, as the one I have is nicely painted.

World Eaters Miss – No Terminator Lord

The next big miss from this is again the lack of a “foot” based Chaos Terminator Lord for the army.  The Death Guard have a plethora of leaders in Terminator armor who can join their tough stinky boys, so why don’t we have something for the World Eaters? Where is the Red Butcher Champion that would activate some Red Butcher Terminators?  Heck, they even have that weird model from one of the Warhammer+ Seasons that we could use or see about getting something new and unique.  It just feels like a frustrating miss for an army that needs some more love towards the top of the force org.

World Eaters Miss – Blood Tithe Rolls, WHY!?

Finally, this is just my personal thought, why did the Blood Tithe points you get have to be based on passing a roll?  Do you know who is really good at failing 3+ rolls?  This guy right here – ME!  I can’t think of a worse way to “lose” your game by failing all your 3+ rolls and getting no Blood Tithe points with the Khorne Daemonkin detachment.  It just feels like a big miss, and I wonder who got touched roughly by Khorne Daemons hanging out with World Eaters.

This is the army that lets you combine up and get your Juggernaut Lord ride with other Juggernauts and feel like he belongs on the table top so having that army rule be such a pain in the butt is really annoying.  It just doesn’t feel right for an army rule not to work all the time, especially when it is combined with trying to build a resource.  A resource you can’t guarantee getting whenever you do the thing it needs to create the resource.

Overall I like the World Eaters book and how it forces new armies as well as pulls you into the direction of using Berserkers to get the mission done.  It is a nice thing to see and helps sell the army as a whole.  Plus there is a ton of good upgrades in here just a few things I have questions about.
