Warhammer 40K: Space Wolves Army Set Up Close

We’ve got the Space Wolves new Army Set in the studio and are taking a closer look at the miniatures. It’s time to call in the pack!
The Space Wolves have a new Army Set up for pre-order this weekend. It’s got the new codex as well as a bunch of brand new miniatures. Today, we’re taking a closer look at those miniatures and what’s exciting for each of them. So, let’s stop stalling and dive in.
Space Wolves Army Set Up Close
Up first we have the Wolf Guard Battle Leader. This kit is all new and all plastic had comes with a few different options. There are three different heads on top of having options for either a thunder hammer or power sword. Additionally, you can also build him with a shield or with a plasma pistol.
It’s a great kit for the new “Captain” equivalent for the Space Wolves out there. Personally, I really like the fur he’s rocking all over the torso.
Next is the Wolf Priest. Functionally, he’s the Space Wolves version of a Chaplain mixed with an Apothecary. You’ve got a few different build options with his miniature as well. For example Thomas built this one with the exposed head instead of the wolf-skull helmet.
Other than head swaps, you can also change around his weapon load out, too. This is another great addition to the Space Wolves range.
Wolf Guard Headtakers are kind of like the Bladeguard Veterans of the Space Wolves. They do have a few key differences however. That being their weapon load-outs as you can build them with dual close combat weapons. Oh…and they come with wolves, too!
Overall, I think this is a mean unit as they can really be kitted out for the role you want them to fill. If you want that survivability then the shields are great way to do that. Or, if you’re like me, you want all the offensive output you can manage. This unit can do both well.
Another version of the Blood Claws is out with this boxed set. The young neophytes of the Space Wolves are back in Primaris form and just as eager to prove themselves.
They really are kitted out for close-combat with the chainsword options. The Blood Claws are really an embodiment of the “youthful aggression” that Space Wolves are known for. If they survive long enough they may eventually become the next pack leader. But they have a ways to go before that.
Grey Hunters are also included in this set. And once again, they are back as the more tempered and battle tested Space Wolves. They aren’t Wolf Guard members (yet) but these are experience Space Wolf members.
They are packing chainswords but also carry with them bolt carbines. The Grey Hunters are a good mix of ranged and close-combat potential.
Regardless of what you’re looking for in the Space Wolves they have something for every play style. The new Army Set is a way to dive into the army and jumpstart a new force. Or, if you’re an existing player, it’s the first place to get your hands on the Codex as well as these new plastic sculpts.
This army set is going up for pre-orders this weekend from Games Workshop!
