Warhammer 40K: Stealth FAQ Hits Chaos Cult Legions & More

Goatboy here with some Warhammer 40K updates you may have missed as GW snuck out a “stealth FAQ” update this last few days.
While this is a slightly quiet week it still had some interesting stuff come in. We did get a batch of 10th Edition FAQ’s to Emperor’s Children, tweaks to Grotmas Deathguard detachment, and even an answer about what a Normal Move done out of phase means. It is neat to see these get updated right before books come out and hopefully people working on the armies are not too hit by having to shift from changes. All of these changes are just showing up in the APP and not on Warhammer Community.
FAQ Updates – Emperor’s Children
The big FAQ winner is the update to the Emperor’s Children and two changes that help the army become a bit more powerful. These simple one is how the Noise Marines “Terrifying Crescendo” ability now stacks with the other units in the army. This lets you give up to a -3 to Battle shock tests and might be a strong way to “shut” someone down on an objective or cause other interesting things. This is especially true as you could use Noise Marines in a CSM detachment to get even more piles of modifiers to their leadership and maybe spook some units from time to time.
The other big shift is how the Coterie of the Conceited detachment’s Unbound Arrogance stratagem allows you to increase your pledge even if your Warlord is dead. This is huge as it means the army does have a chance to get to that special 5 pledge points option even if your leader decided to not get all the pledge points they said they would for Slaanesh. I like this as it lets the army work if you had some poor rolls in the early game which is important. Having an army rule that gets shut down quickly could be frustrating even though this is the best detachment.
FAQ Updates – Death Guard
The Death Guard got a few stealth updates as well. The Flybown Host Detachment from the Grotmas release got a quick update to let the Poxwalkers not become completely jailing of an army. Now they don’t get the Scout Move and Stealth and only those units on the battlefield and not within Transports. This is pretty huge as it just keeps them playing fair instead of covering the table in gross nonsense that the enemy had to chew through.
The other two changes is updating Typhus to only affecting units he can see with his Eater Plague Ability as well as changing the Predator Destructor Autocannon back down to Strength 9. This again just aligns them up with the other Chaos armies options and doesn’t make one better. The Heldrake for Emperor’s Children also took a hit with removing its 2+ armor save. It did keep its more wounds and higher toughness.
FAQ Updates – World Eaters
The one thing they have missed for the World Eaters is the whole does the Juggernaut Lord with the Disciple of Khorne enhancement give the unit of Bloodcrushers he joins the Blessing of Khorne roll. Yes he loses the World Eaters keyword but keeps the unit power of Blessings of Khorne on his Datasheet. The way Blessings of Khorne works is that a unit that has it – not checking if World Eaters etc – it gets it so now you could have a bunch of Blood Crushers with whatever Blessings of Khorne you have activated. A ton of Sustained 1 and Lethal Hitting Crushers seems pretty good right?
Out of Phase Moves Clarified
The next interesting change is how they defined out of phase normal moves. The Aeldari now state those normal moves are not surge moves which is an interesting answer. It was how most people played it but it still is an interesting answer. They have done so much to ensure things have “surge” in their extra move rule so that is pretty neat.
Anything else you think is missing from this Stealth FAQ update? I am sure will get more whenever a new Dataslate comes out and all the new stuff starts rolling in. It is gonna be a pretty fun summer with so many new models and kits to keep us busy.
Happy gaming, and always roll 6’s!
