Games Workshop is showcasing the members of the Knives of the Crone Warband for Warhammer Underworlds. Time to sharpen the knives.

The Knives of the Crone are a new warband coming to pre-order this weekend from Games Workshop. They are an offshoot of the Moragi-Heg of the Daughters of Khaine. They are believers in the prophetic goddess and use that theme in their warband. So let’s see how they work on the tabletop!

“This is the tale of a warband so devoted to the viscera of murder and the spectacle of slaughter that they can manipulate these fickle gods of fate to ensure maximum carnage. They are the Knives of the Crone, fanatical believers in the prophetic goddess Morai-Heg. “

Knives of the Crone Rules

Starting off we get a look at their warband card. At the top we have their Inspire condition. This requires a Rituals of Prophecy roll to be triggered via Visions of Blood. If the result is Foretold Wisdom then they become inspired. This is sort of a confusing situation of triggers that have to happen, but it’s actually a lot more common that you might think.

Rituals of Prophecy is really the key mechanic of this warband. Foretold Protection and Slaughter are both boons for your warriors. But really, this is just a dice mini-game that you’re playing with your own warriors. Speaking of Warriors, let’s check them out next.

Knives of the Crone Fighters

The leader of this Warband is Kaerna Vix. She shares the same 4 movement all of her warriors have and is worth 2 bounty if the enemy can claim her. She’s also hitting on hammers, which is solid, and she’s got a fairly decent attack pool of 2, which bumps up to 3 on her inspired side.

Krieta, Wing of the Crone, is ready to leap into the fray. She’s got a bit more of a wild side with 4 dice on her attack, but needing swords to hit. Once she flips, she goes up to 2 damage when inspired and also gains the Flying Runemark, too. The faster you can get her Inspired, the better. She’s also worth 2 on her bounty.

Tazari brings some options to the tabletop, too. Once inspired, their two attacks become merged into one profile, and they get the Flying Runemark as well. Finally, we have Azphel, who’s more of a traditional ranged character.

Once inspired, Azphel is one of the most accurate archers around! With a 3 dice ranged 3 attack that hits on hammers, this is one warrior you’re going to want to watch out for.

WarCom has more of a breakdown of this warband, along with some suggested decks to run. Plus, some tips on things to watch out for if you’re playing against them. If you’re looking to play Warhammer Underworlds in a more competitive manner, I highly suggest taking a look at their pointers for this Warband. Even if you’re not playing them, knowing how they work could save you a headache on your own path to glory.
