You Won’t Fight Joe Manganiello In HeroQuest’s ‘The Crypt Of Perpetual Darkness’, He Just Designed It
Yes, the new HeroQuest expansion is Joe Mangiello’s The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness. No, it’s not his actual crypt. Pretty sure.
HeroQuest is back in a big way. This time with a newly revealed expansion quest pack, confusingly titled Joe Manganiello’s ‘The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness.’ That kind of makes it sound like you’re taking your HeroQuest characters into the crypt where Joe Manganiello lies, not dead… merely waiting. And, let me tell you, the thought of facing down a lich-ified Manganiello with HeroQuest mini and all is pretty great. Sadly that’s not the case. He just designed the ten new quests you’ll find inside.
This is ultimately less hilarious and probably better for the game long term because it’s an actual expansion pack and not a joke. But I’m still bitter about those ten minutes between getting the press release and actually reading the press release where I thought the world was full of hope and undead Joe Manganiellos.
HeroQuest Reveals Joe Manganiello’s The Crypt Of Perpetual Darkness
I’m just saying, imagine the scenario where you read on and instead of hearing about how there are ten epic new quests that invite your characters to enter a long-lost underground crypt in search of a powerful artifact, you’d be hearing about the reign of terror of the lich-king Manganiello and how he must be stopped.
Jokes aside, this expansion pack does sound pretty sweet. You get new board tiles. New quests. All the things you’d want to keep your games of HeroQuest fresh and exciting. You even get a new miniature as well as a bunch of foil-embellished cards.
And as far as quests go, this one certainly beats the original HeroQuest tutorial level quest that pit you against every monster in the game at 1st level and was never actually meant to be the first session of your campaign. You even get allies – unlikely ones – as a part of this quest. That’s unheard of outside of the Broadsword, which is everyone’s ally.
