Halo: Flashpoint – Meet The Elite ‘Sangheili Mercenaries’

The Sanghelili Mercenaries are coming to Halo: Flashpoint. Let’s take a quick look at them and what they bring to the tabletop!
Halo: Flashpoint has a new expansion coming very soon. The Banished are the second faction coming to the game and we’ve already gotten a good look at the Jiralhanae. Now it’s time to get the lowdown on the Sangheili Mercenaries — aka the Elites!
“Often referred to as ‘Elites’ by humans, they are intelligent and formidable in battle. Following the Great Schism, entire Sangheili keeps pledged themselves to the Banished cause. Now, these former Covenant warriors fight alongside the Jiralhanae as seasoned mercenaries.”
Sangheili Mercenaries
First things first. You’ll want to get familiar with the Elites and their basics:
That translates to some deadly foes in just about any situation. They pose a threat up close or at range and are skilled enough to make their attacks count. One other factor to consider is their use of Evade which can be used to dash into or out of cover. Few things are as frightening as an Elite dashing towards you with an Energy Sword at the ready!
So let’s talk weapons for a moment. Their standard loadouts include iconic weapons: Needlers, Plasma Rifles, Pulse Carbines, and Energy Swords. These weapons do have roles in the hands of the Sangheili. They each lean into distinct aspects like the Plasma Rifle’s Continuous Fire at the risk of overheating. Or the Needler’s deadliness due to the Lethal keyword. Then there’s the well-rounded Pulse Carbine suited for just about any task. And finally, the Energy Sword which I don’t think really needs an introduction.
“All Sangheili Mercenaries have the option to buy an Energy Dagger for 2pts, providing them with deadly combat abilities, Lethal and AP 2 is a great finisher on an enemy with depleted shields. Mercenaries benefit from adding items such as the Grappleshot and Active Camouflage, allowing them to move up quickly and stealthily. “
Now, if you did manage to get a set of the Sangheili Mercenaries from the Spartan Edition, then you’re set. But if you’re looking to get them and maybe some back-up as well then the new Rise of the Banished Box is where your next step lies.
Lastly, if you’re just looking to get your hands on these sweet models because you’re just a Halo Fan, I get that. You’ll also be able to purchase just the Elites by themselves later on as well.
Anyone else have a soft spot for the Elites? Perhaps a grudging respect even?
