RPG: ‘Wanderhome’ Wanders Home To Steve Jackson Games

Wanderhome just released on Steve Jackson Games’ Warehouse 23 webstore, meaning you have yet one more way to snag the cozy RPG.
Wanderhome is one of the coziest RPGs in the cozy RPG genre. It helped put Possum Creek Games on the map. Now that they’re an imprint of Steve Jackson Games, there’s another way to get your hands on a copy of the pastoral RPG of traveling animal-folk having adventures, going to parties, and occasionally getting into hijinks.

Wanderhome coming to SJG’s Warehouse 23 marks another fruit borne of the partnership between the two. Steve Jackson Games announced that Possum Creek Games was joining the venerable tabletop company as an imprint earlier this year. And with that partnership comes another round of preorders for a beautifully-bound hardcover book.
Wanderhome was a huge success on Kickstarter when it first released. As mentioned, it put Possum Creek Games on the map, winning several gaming awards, and even going up for a Nebula award for best writing in a game. I think what really made it sing was how broadly accessible it was—you could get people who had never played an RPG before in and playing so quickly. A standout at conventions as well as the home tables.
If you don’t have a physical copy, Steve Jackson’s print run is one you may not want to miss. Although it’s not as necessary as snagging a copy of, say, Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast, which really enhances the experience.
“Designed by Jay Dragon, Possum Creek founder and Steve Jackson Games Lead Game Designer, Wanderhome is a GM-less pastoral fantasy roleplaying game. Players take the roles of traveling animal-folk as they journey through the mythical world of Haeth. Included in the book are 15 playbooks for creating characters along with suggestions for adding layers of traits and natures to fully customize the experience. Numerous incredibly stunning images by over ad ozen talented artists bring the world to life. Because the games rules are not complex, it is accessible to roleplayers of all skill levels. It can be adapted for any size player group and session durations are variable.”
Shipping is expected to begin in early July, ahead of Gen Con. In the meantime, we can all look forward to learning more about the upcoming Seven-Part Pact as the collaborative efforts continue to bloom.
