Warhammer Next Week: Grand Cathay Arrives In The Old World

The armies of Grand Cathay sally out for pre-order next week, arriving with new miniatures, rulebooks, and accompanying the Matched Play rules.
It’s a big week for the Old World. Grand Cathay comes storming in with a host of new miniatures (some of which you might recognize from Total War: Warhammer 3). You’ll find everything from dragon-blooded heroes riding legendary longmas, to massive colossi who stand sentinel against Chaos. And accompanying all of this, a new Battalion Box and the new Matched Play guide for the Old World. All this, next week!
Warhammer Next Week: The Armies of Grand Cathay

It all kicks off with the new Arcane Journal: Armies of Grand Cathay. This rulebook tells you everything you need to play your Grand Cathay armies, and is full of lore, rules, , and new magic items and spell lores. All your unit profiles in one easy place.

And to help jump start your armies of Grand Cathay, a new Battalion Box. The Grand Cathay Battalion is a beefy box. Inside you’ll find loads of new miniatures, including 30 Jade Warriors, with options enough for three units of 10 or two of 15. There are 10 Lancers to showcase the might of Cathayan cavalry. You’ll also find two Grand Cannons, which could also be built as Fire Rain Rocket Batteriess, and comes with optional Ogre Artillery crew models.

A new army needs a strong leader. And you’ll find that leader in the form of the Shugengan Lord riding the Great Spirit Longma. These dragon-blooded leaders ride their deadly mounts into combat and come with a variety of options for customization.

The Gate Masters of the Celestial City are those who have defended the Celestial City for a full decade, making them invaluable defensive-minded veteran leaders who can bolster friendly troops. You get one on foot and one mounted with Battle Standard and Celestial Blade and Shield.

Rain bullets (and the occasional bit of crucial recon) from above with the new multi-part plastic Sky Lantern kit. You can build this floating platform as mobile gun battery or command center, and can be built with a Magistrate or Strategist, as well as iron hail guns, dragon fire bombs, or long-barreled crane guns and a bomb rack for the lantern. Fun times.

The mighty Cathayan Sentinel towers over the battlefields of Grand Cathay. This massive miniature can be built in two different poses and comes with a variety of head and blade options.

Finally, throw all of these new miniatures headlong into battle with the new Old World Matched Play Guide. This 48-page book contains all the rules you need for running matched play tournaments and events, including six unique scenarios and a bunch of Secondary Objectives.
All this, next week!
