Warhammer: The Old World New Updates & FAQ Now Available

Games Workshop has a new FAQ and Errata out now for Warhammer: The Old World. This one incorporates the new Matched Play Guide.
Warhammer: The Old World has been out for 18 months now. Games Workshop has been keeping an eye on things for the game. They’ve been releasing a steady stream of updates as well as new armies. With Grand Cathay making it tabletop debut now along with a new Matched Play Guide now is the perfect time for an FAQ and Errata update.
This update goes beyond the usual plan of answering questions. We’ve taken the opportunity to look again at certain aspects of the rules, endeavouring to address some of the issues players have let us know about.

The first major change has been to magic in the game. You can read the full WarCom article (link above) for the reasons behind the changes. But in this case the change is impacting how important Wizard Level is as well as other tweaks.
“For a while now, Level 4 Wizards have dominated lower-level Wizards in terms of both casting and dispelling. With this in mind, we’ve altered the way in which modifiers are applied to both Casting and Dispel rolls, and tweaked the casting values of a number of spells. We’ve also taken the opportunity to amend the way in which units interact with magical vortexes. “
There are quite a few spells that got their casting values altered. If you were a player that really leaned into the magic system you’re going to want to double check that spell list for sure!
Another updated targeted the Infantry in The Old World. Hopefully these changes will reinforce the concept that Infantry are the core and backbone of your armies. These are straight-up buffs to the humble infantry lines and hopefully make them feel more impactful in your games.
There are lots more changes happening within the FAQ & Errata. If you’re playing The Old World I highly suggest you download the documents and give them a read. I’m still digesting these changes myself. There’s also updates to the Ravening Hordes and Forces of Fantasy, too. So be sure you peruse those as well!
It’s time to reevaluate your infantry and wizards for The Old World.
