If you have or know a mom who enjoys a good board game, these may be the perfect addition to your mothers day brunch slash game day.

This weekend is Mother’s Day, so if you haven’t thought about what to get for any of the mothers in your life yet, now is the time. If the mom on your list enjoys game nights and doesn’t need another bouquet of flowers, these board and card games just may be a perfect fit.

Moms Against the World

Being a parent is a lot. I’m a mom, and sometimes you just need to scream into the void. So why not build a whole party card game around that exact catharsis-slash-fun? Moms Against The World is a little like Cards Against Humanity, but a little different and a little specific to momhood.

Planted

My mom always wants plants for Mother’s Day. Not a bouquet of flowers, but plants that she can bring out to her garden and care for all summer. Personally, I have a black thumb. I’ve killed a pot of basil (Yes, I realize it’s basically a weed and will keep itself alive if you just ignore it, I still managed to kill it. No I don’t know how.) But if you, too, know a mom who loves gardening and plants, Planted is a strategic card game that will allow you to out-green-thumb your friends and family in game form.

Outlander Trivia

If you want to get something fun and mostly personalized for your mom, figure out what their fandom is. “But my mom isn’t a nerd, she doesn’t have a fandom.” I promise you, she does. My mom and both of my grandmothers and all of my aunts are very into Outlander. They all have matching pillows with I-forget-his-name-and-One-Time-I-Called-Him-Duncan-MacLeod-And-None-Of-Them-Thought-It-Was-Funny on it. And I get it, I get way too into things too. So maybe my mom and both of my grandmothers and all of my aunts need some Outlander trivia to play against each other. If that isn’t what your mom is into…

Bridgeton: The High Society Game

Another example of ‘find their fandom’ is the Bridgerton strategy board game. Even if the mom you have in mind isn’t nerdy, this may be right in their niche. Gameplay involves attending balls, looking social matches, avoiding scandal, and finding true love. The game pieces are immersive and beautiful, and the only thing better than getting a cute game for your mom is agreeing to play it with her.

And if neither of those are your mom’s fandom, you’ll figure out what it is. I believe in you.

Queenz

If all else fails, go punny. Your mom’s a queen, right? Joke aside, Queenz is a gorgeous and really fun game about flower-tending and beekeeping. Plant your orchids, maintain the most beautiful garden, attract the most bees, and produce the tastiest honey around.
