Build the aircraft designed to haul the space shuttle across the United States with LEGO’s new NASA inspired set.

NASA used Shuttle Carrier Aircraft mainly to transport space shuttles from landing at Edwards Air Force Base in California to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida where they could be prepped for another mission. The two jets are highly modified Boeing 747s – N905NA was previously an American Airlines plane, N911NA was a surplus plane from Japan Airlines.

Both aircraft retired in 2012. Their final flights transported shuttles to various museums across the country. You can see both planes up close at Space Center Houston in Texas and the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark in California.

And now you can build them in LEGO.

Build the remarkable Boeing 747 and its space-faring cargo. The plane features a deployable 18-wheel landing gear and a specialized shuttle mounting system. The Enterprise shuttle has an attachable tail cone, detachable engines, and stowable landing gear tucked inside its cargo bay. The pair is ready to display with a stand and plaque detailing the carrier and the shuttle.
