The Thousand Sons have a new Combat Patrol coming to pre-order this weekend. Is this box a deal worth making?

Combat Patrols tend to be a great option for new players or anyone looking to jump into an army they want to play. The Thousand Sons are next up for the Combat Patrol treatment. Today we’re going to take a closer look at the contents to figure out how much of a deal this new box is. Should you snag this one or should you let this one turn to dust…

Thousand Sons Combat Patrol Pricing Breakdown

Contents:

Total Individual MSRP: $243.50

Now, here’s where I have to step in and make an assumption. The new Combat Patrols have been $170, so I have to assume this new box will also follow that same pricing structure. With that said, we can calculate the total savings.

Total Savings: $73.50

So, is this one worth it? Again, for the price tag, I think this would be a good launching point if you wanted to start a Thousand Sons army. Shoot, let’s do a quick points breakdown to see how much you’re getting in that regard.

  • Daemon Prince – 170
  • Tzaangor Shaman – 60
  • Tzaangor Enlightened – 50
  • Rubric Marines – 200

Points Total: 480

So yeah, it’s 480 points of Thousand Sons based on the current points in the game. Would you want to buy more than one of these boxes? I guess that depends on the sort of army you want to build beyond these units. I think it’s a good core, but I don’t know if this is what I would build towards. Now, if you can manage to snag a copy of the Thousand Sons Battleforce that’s ALSO coming to pre-order, then I think both of those boxes are a fantastic combo together.

If you get lucky and get the Battleforce box, I could easily see you snagging an Ahriman and Magnus the Red to complement your new collection. There will certainly be something you can work with from that pool of units!
