Whether you’re a very many Muppet or a Muppet of a man, there’s an RPG or board game you’re certain to enjoy.

Between a certain theme park making their Muppet move or Sesame Street finding a new home (again), the most famous Muppets and puppet characters have been a topic of conversation recently. Also, they’re just always a big thing around my house. My toddler recently discovered the Jim Henson collection and has asked me to turn on “Muppets. The pirate one,” on more than one occasion. She has good taste.

So if you’re feeling a little Muppety, have an idea for an adventure in a very felt world, or just have very specific interest, these TTRPGs and board games will teach you all about counting… Or battle. Or maybe both.

The Dark Crystal RPG

Did you know there was a Dark Crystal RPG system? Because there is! Immerse yourself in the world of Thra and experience all of that magic, wonder, and weirdness for yourself. This one book gives players everything they’ll need to get started on their own beautiful but very strange adventure. And of course the book is full of all sorts of gorgeous and unique artwork. No, I don’t buy new systems for the art, but I definitely spend extra time flipping slowly through the ,pages when the art is nice.

Land of Eem

For something a little more vaguely-inspired-by the concept of Muppets, Land of Eem is an adventure RPG that’s both post-apocalyptic an light-hearted. This game definitely has the vibe of ‘just because we’re on a serious adventure doesn’t mean we have to take ourselves seriously’ figured out. Land of Eem wants you to tell fun, heartfelt stories. But it wants you to get a few goofs in, too.

Felt, Friendship, and Feelings

This is a more wholesome edu-tainment take on the Muppet inspired game. Players take on the role of people, puppets, animals, monsters, or whatever else they want and go on adventures centered on building teamwork, friendship, and caring. This is a game a little more centered on having a good time with your friends than getting into battles with fearsome foes.

Muppets Clue

Who committed a murder most foul on the set of the Muppet Show (tonight)? And where and with what did they do it? I know, I know, we’re all leaning with Miss Piggy right out of the gate, but let’s not overlook Fozzie so quick. Is this just Clue with a Muppet’s skin? Yes. But both of those things are great.

Labyrinth: Ready, Steady, Worm

He didn’t say “hello,” he said “‘allo.” But that’s close enough. Personally, Labyrinth was the Muppet-adjacent movie that I was very into when I was younger. And based on its cult following, I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. There are a few Labyrinth inspired board games, but this one features that adorable blue worm and its friends as they get up to trouble in the labyrinth. Race though, collect gems, use goblin tricks, and try not to get lost when the walls move.
