Hordes: New Trollkin Units Unboxed

This December it’s time for Trollbloods to get some new units.

I don’t think there’s a Trollblood player out there that isn’t excited about the new Highwaymen. So are the sculpts as cool as the rules?

The first thing I noticed before I even opened this kit was how heavy the box was. And just look at all these bits. Of course it’s not the number of bits we’re really interested in, it’s the quality.

So have a closer look. Personally I am pretty impressed with these. There’s a lot of detail and it all seems well formed. There are mold lines, as you can see, but they aren’t in any terribly hard to reach places.

Here’s the back of the same model.

Another Sculpt.

And the back again.

This set also comes with a lady Trollkin. The fluff tells us that Trollkin of both genders make equally good warriors, but we still see males most of the time. The only other female Trollkin that isn’t a named character comes in the Slugger unit.

And the back again.

Here are a couple of pistol arms. They all look more or less the same.

And here are the heads that come with this set. The one that looks like he has an exposed brain has a hat.

Here it is.

The leader has a cape attached to his head.

I had to balance it up against an arm to get a decent shot of this face.

Last up are the holsters and bandoliers.

Next it’s an old unit resculpted for production in plastic. For what it’s worth, this isn’t just an old unit, it’s the old unit. The Scattergunners were the first unit to be released for the Trollbloods faction.

There are even more bits in this box than the last. The bodies are all the same as the Highwaymen, so you’ve more or less already seen close-ups of them.

So lets look at the heads.

And of course the arms.

The old metal Scattergunners had kegs like this too. At first I thought they were powder…

But the powder goes in the little pouches here.

I’m just as impressed with these plastics as I was with last month’s Skorne. They look like they’ll be some of the best so far from Privateer, but you can never know for sure until you start painting them. Hopefully this will happen soon, but I’ve got a few comissions to finish first. Whenever I get them done I’ll try to be back with photos.
