And to follow-up from yesterday, Archibald_TK had some more insight about the game:

via Archbald_TK, Warseer

So to answer a few questions some of you may or may not have asked:

– AFAIK the game is not restricted to English.
– The two Knights in the story are the Ever-Stalwart of House Terryn (Battle Cannon, Reaper Chainsword, Icarus Autocannon, Heavy Stubbers) and the Litany of Destruction (Reaper Chainsword, Thunderstrike Gauntlet, Ironstorm Missile Pod, Heavy Stubber).
– There are only two big cards, one for each of these knights setups. But there are references to play with other weapons setups.
– Game includes a Datasheet to play a Renegade Knight in 40K, but there is only one sheet so I hope they’re not restricted to the CC version.
– Also includes a detachment to ally Knights to CSM and Chaos Daemons.
– 8 pages of rules including the 40K ones if I got it right.

It didn’t notice anything special regarding availability.

There are no rules in the next WD (besides a new unrelated BaC scenario), so far it’s all in the box.

Here are his previous rumors:

via Archibald_TK, Warseer 4-11-2016

No Orruks in the next WD.

New boxed game called “Imperial Knight: Renegade” instead (1 Imperial Knight, 1 IK Warden and 1 Sanctum Imperialis + rules)
165€ / £120 / $195 / and for once the real prices for all to see: CA$ 235 / AU$ 245 / NZ$ 290 / 22.000 Yen

So both a huge price but a huge discount at the same time, making it a pretty solid choice if you want 2 Knights. Too bad the large difference between the UK and Euro price will make us incapable of competing vs UK retailers.

Game is derived from the minigame they did in the WD around the Stormsurge release if I remember correctly, the one were each superheavy had its own datasheet, with damage locations and numbers everywhere. Game includes specific decals for each knight allowing you to decorate one of them as a renegade Knight. No Chaos specific sprues thought (those are the regular models already sold in stores).

There you have it! Pricing, Dates and the rest of the info. Looks like April 23 will be a good day for all you Knight fans. And if you’ve been holding out, it’s probably not going to get any better than this deal.

Here come the Knights – I hope you have your House in order…

  • Sean

Hmmm are they imperial knights or is one a warden?

    • Seems like it’s one Knight + one Warden, like the initial rumor said. I don’t have one so I’m not 100% sure, but can’t you make both Knight’s weapon configurations in the newer rumor out of a single set of the additional weapons sprues from the Warden box? I.e., they’re basically boxing 2 Knights and 1 Warden upgrade.

      • Severius_Tolluck

Should be all pieces minus maybe one paladin configuration.

        • There’s no way they’d re-cut molds, so the Paladin and Errant weapons will both be in there even if they’re not used. The Warden box is also just a single sprue, so all of those options should be present too (the gatling cannon seems to not be used here).

          • Severius_Tolluck

What i mean there was that one paladin upgrade box that had options unless those are now in the warden box, the only variant I do not have or have not even bothered to look at.

          • Sean

My worry is they could both be paladins without the extra sprue. Since i don’t see warden written anywhere in these pictures. They may just be trying to purge the stock of the cheaper kit.

          • Tyris

Nah, there’s got to be at least one of the Warden’s extra sprues in there, else where are you supposed to get the missile pod, autocannon and thunderstrike gauntlet?

          • Tyris

            What paladin upgrade box?

          • Severius_Tolluck

Well I may be wrong but people swear up to me up and down that there were three boxes released since codex knights first came out. The first was a blue knight and had the two knight type variants in it. Then there was a box with a red night that had more options for the paladins, and then the warden box which has the green knight on the cover and now has all weapon options in it?

          • Tyris

Dunno what those people have been smoking, but that red box appears to be imaginary. It’s not on sale currently, nor is it advertised in any White Dwarf Weekly between 4 and 66. The only way to put the extra options on an Errant or Paladin is to get a Warden; those parts share the same sprue as the avenger cannon, so GW would have had to recut it (in less than 12 months) to have previously sold them separately.

          • Chris. K Cook

Yeah I think they are hallucinating

          • Lewismauler

The rumors and pictures have all been pretty clear that it is 1 knight paladin and 1 knight warden. There’s a whole other post from yesterday that y’all probably missed. Also there are in fact 3 boxes. I have seen and purchased all three. The original release was of a red knight on box cover, the rerelease was the now blue house Terran knight. The kits were the same, containing the builds for either the knight paladin or knight errant. The 3rd box or second wave of Knights was the green knight cover which is the warden box, contains original knight paladin and errant sprues with the addition of 1 warden upgrade Sprue containing all bits necessary to construct warden, gallant, or crusader builds.

          • Tyris

Blue boxes bought on release day say you’re wrong about an original red box.

Are you just looking at the back of the blue box?

          • Chris. K Cook

Box art change does not make a new kit.

    • Samuraidino

I believe its one standard Knight kit and one Warden Knight kit.

But you can use the leftovers from the Warden to make the other one a warden too.

      • Chris. K Cook

Well not a warden but any of the other variants.

  • Adrien Fowl

This looks like a really interesting deal for those willing to get a couple of Imperial Knights. The price looks pretty interesting.

    • Lewismauler

It’s a sweet deal, it’s knight paladin/errant is free. Your paying for the warden/gallant/crusader build and the sanctum imperialis. Oh also whatever dice rules and templates that might be in there would be free as well. Literally one of the best deals they’ve put out. Only deal I can off top my head say is better is the starter set which is a 75% discount

  • Zack Seiders

finally Imperial knights for chaos space marines that I do not have to go over to forge world for. Hope it is useful for khorne daemonkin

    • Dan Wilson

That’s what I’m most psyched about, some chaos knights for my cultist army.

      • Zack Seiders

I only care If i can use this with khorne daemonkin. Finally have something to throw at imperial knights/ wraith knights “if they don’t get the 6 on d cannon” without investing lots of points on 2 maulerfiends and a bloodthirster with giant axe.

  • dinodoc

I find it a little amusing that €165 is 187.83 USD yet GW is charging $195 USD.

    • Severius_Tolluck

      VAT baby VAT

      • dinodoc

USA doesn’t have a VAT. That should make it cheaper over here than it is in Europe.

        • Severius_Tolluck

I know we do not, but the parent company in England has always added that in their cost and consequently charge us higher, same with shipping. Yadda yadda. Just be glad we are not poor Aus!

          • dinodoc

It gets even worse when you compare what £120 is in USD.

“Just be glad we are not poor Aus!”

It’s amazing that FW armies are cheaper over there than GW proper.

          • Bayne MacGregor

My Mechanicum army cost only a fraction of my Skitarii, though it’s helped by the low model count of a Mechanicum army.

          • Damian Reid

Us New Zealanders also get a 25 pound ‘middle earth tax’ as well. Yay us. Really sick of the way they price it up here.

          • Chris. K Cook

Because they don’t have to pay shipping or import duties ect right?

          • Severius_Tolluck

Sorry mate, that sucks. Is it true that postage out there has to meet certain weight requirements too?

        • Tyris

You’ve got “sales tax,” haven’t you?

          • dinodoc

Sales taxes aren’t added into the advertised price so it’s less stealthy than VAT in that respect.

          • Andy Meechan

Less honest I have found. It’s likely I’m a product of my environment, but I much prefer to see the price I will be paying up front.

          • Chris. K Cook

Yeah I don’t care what part is tax,it’snot like you can write wardollies off on tax!

          • Chris. K Cook

And Import duties and al sorts of other fun things. Plus you know, the shipping costs to the other side of the world via not one but two pirate infested waters (I am not joking here)

          • Damian Reid

I’d believe you but after putting up with their 90’s pricing structure… since the 90’s when we were told it was only based on the exchange rates and we were happy to pay 3X the cost then because that’s what it was. Then they shut down our access to buy internationally as our pacific peso got stronger and is now 1:2 pounds and we actually got GW product at the fair price… yeh, nah man. I am not joking here either at the way they rip us off in NZ and employ spin doctors to sell more boolsheet… pirates ahoy indeed!!! BTW, you do realise it’s cheaper for us still to buy forgeworld and get it shipped here than buy GW rrp in NZ? lol. Oh well, back to my hobbit hole.

          • Chris. K Cook

They shut down the selling out of the regions to protect the Bricks and Mortar Stores. Both their own and the FLGS. Why because with out somewhere for folks to wander in and see their products they won’t have new players.

But yeah during the GFC it was about the same price or cheaper to get FW stuff until Abbott flushed our dollar down the loo.

          • Chris. K Cook

‘m not joking about the Pirates I know of at least one shipment that was on a cargo ship that was raided in the Malacca Straights.

Ironically it was the one that included the Fell Cargo WFB Pirates Novel.

They also go via the Suez Canal that takes them past Somalia, you’ve heard about the issues happening there right?

            Educate your self.

      • Andy Meechan

Could more likely be Exchange Rates. GW are using rates from a while back (1.625 USD to 1 GBP, above – currently 1.427) (2.042 AUD to 1 GBP, based on above – currently 1.857).

3 years ago, it was 1.536 USD, and 1.463 AUD, which is why Australia still maintains that it gets it tight, but looking at rates from last year it was 1.464 USD and 1.906 AUD.

Fluctuations, eh! Gotta love them. No surprise then that a company in one country sets a rate and works with that. Financial forecasting and all that (and likely other things too).

        (All rates grabbed from http://www.xe.com)

        • Chris. K Cook

It’s is easier to have a set buffer zone that have constantly fluctuating prices. Other wise it gets messy.

    • Chris. K Cook

Because they teleporting eh minis across the Atlantic for free?

  • Boondox

Once again GW throws a curve ball…

    • Severius_Tolluck

That is a good deal from them. Too bad I already have like 6 knights already sigh…

      • Boondox

It would be nice if they released the rules in a WD…

        • Severius_Tolluck

looks like they are though i think! That photo appears to be a WD, which I assume will have the data sheets to use the renegade outside the “game”

      • Nogle

Bet you’ll be able to buy the rules on eBay for $5-$10

      • Chris. K Cook

Are you suggesting you don’t need more. You are a disappointment to your Household Duke.

        • Severius_Tolluck

If I want more than a lance of mechs I’ll go play Battletech! Oh Battletech why are you so unloved where I live!?

  • Anti-Gravity

Not a bad price. You get two knights and then might be able to sell or trade off the Sanctum if you have no interest in the scenery.

Might pick one of these up, we’ll see.

  • Dave Scammell

Well. Looks like my Orks are gonna be lootin’ themselves a knight!

  • Severius_Tolluck

My only question is, how many sanctum imperials tiles do you get. It has to be one. But the site lists 1 sanctum imperials as the whole 6 tile set marked at 663 us! I have to be reading that wrong.

  • SundaySilence

That’s a damn good deal for two Knights! If the Orruks weren’t on the horizon; I’d snap one of these up.

  • stiff77

£120? It’s a deal,, it’s a steal…it’s sale of the f**king century. £80 off GW. Hopefully Triple helix and Dark Sphere can get another 20% off

    • Andy Meechan

“In fact, f**k it Nick, I think I’ll keep it.”

  • Shiwan8

  • Deez

I guess I have to take back what I said from the article yesterday. This is a pleasant surprise!

  • JP

So basically, it’s two knights and a piece of terrain for a 41% discount? HOLY COW UDDERS! That’s freaking amazing!

    • memitchell

Plus, some sort of game, too.

      • JP

Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots with big cannons. Sounds like a cool way to kill time to me.

        • memitchell

That description fits like five popular movies..

          • JP

I can think of Pacific Rim and Real Steel, although there were no guns in than one. What movies were you thinking of? I actually want to know. Robot deathmatches are fun.

          • memitchell

Transformers X 4, more coming. Robot Jox. Probably playing a little lose with the words “robot” and “popular.”

  • mrt181

Would be cool to get additional cards for wraithknight, riptide, stormsurge etc.

    • Andy Meechan

There were rules for Militarum Tempestus (/Stormtroopers, damnit!) in Deathwatch Overkill provided by White Dwarf. It’s not a massive leap to imagine that there may be cards popping up for your wish-list 🙂

  • Michael R.

Could somebody tell me, when I’m supposed to built nontheless paint all these kits?

  • Benoit Tremblay

well I guess I have no reason not to get Knights now

  • Dan Johnson

Cool! A new BaC scenario! w00t!

  • georgelabour

As much as I am a rabid fanboy for knight stuff this one has me a bit meh. Unless it includes new parts beyond decals, and or the system lets you do more than just use two preconfigured loadouts.

If it’s basically a hugely expanded version of Godbreaker Clash and lets you do all manner of stunts and mech handling it’ll be interesting, and I may buy the rules second hand or something.

But without the ‘ooo shiny’ factor that’s gone into the previous board game boxes It’s not a huge deal as I already own 9 knights.

OTOH….having 10 knights and one to hack up for terrain…

  • Thatroubleshootah

I did not want a knight because although they look cool some don’t want to play against them and they are over a hundred bucks each.

Soon they will be a lot cheaper and come with rules and a terrain piece.

    Now I want knights.

See, gw. It is this easy to sell me your product.

I just bought a terrain table so the terrain will come in handy.

    • Chris. K Cook

If people don’t want to play against Knights/LoW/FW/Ect they are probably killjoys that aren’t worth playing against.

      • Thatroubleshootah

My point is that selling a product with some percieved negatives is difficult at a high price point and a lot easier at a lower pricepoint. At the box set price point I don’t care if I rarely use them in a game. They will cost about as much as a similar model kit and be fun to build and paint. Plus because they will be relatively cheap we will probably see more of them which means more Knight fights. This will be a good thing. All of this is related to the lower price point.

      • Theik

This is a rather dumb argument. I have 3 knights, and I fully understand when people don’t want to play against a knight army, because you require a specific army to counter them or you’ll get stomped.

The other day I played against a guy who really wanted to play 40k and I happened to be in the store dropping off my knights for their display cabinet. It was all I had along, so I figured why not.

I ended up giving all of his models rend because the majority of them couldn’t even damage a knight, and he still only managed to kill one out of three knights, courtesy of a bloodthirster with strength D who died at the same time.

        • Scott Guise (Shrew8541)

You and I play alike…to the enjoyment of our opponent 🙂

        • Chris. K Cook

          Play Malestrom Missions then.

40 K stopped being about wipeing the enemy out back in 6th ed.

Its the guys who refuse to play that stuff EVER Iwas talking about. Saying “Hey lets not use X in this game” is fine. Refusing to play against anything not in 5th ed is childish WAAC shenanigans.

  • Boondox

Scratching my head wondering why on this one. To get rid of overstock?

    • Stealthbadger

Possibly, only anecdotal but I had one local store manager tell me that for their location the second release knights hadn’t sold as well as expected. The first wave probably rode the hype.

  • ZeeLobby

Just what we need, more knights… everywhere…

    • Chris. K Cook

Thanks for proving my point above….

      • ZeeLobby

Proving what point? That knights were not, and are still not, needed in regular 40K?

        • Stealthbadger

Are they everywhere? Think I’ve played one two times maybe in two years.

          • ZeeLobby

Guess it just depends on your location, but I have yet to be to an event where j can’t see one every time I open my eyes. I mean it’s nice that chaos are getting one, but there’s many other things chaos needs more and still don’t have.

          • Stealthbadger

Guess it depends on location then, as you say.

        • Chris. K Cook

That horrible negative people hate Knights and you should avoid ever interacting with people like that if you can.
