  • Satyan Patel

Am I reading the first price correctly? 799.99? Quite possibly typo.

    • That is the correct price for the Limited Collector’s Edition.

    • bobrunnicles

Nope, it’s correct. I think I’ll stick to my extended Blu-Rays of the LOTR trilogy, I wasn’t that taken by the Hobbit movies anyway 🙂

      • Satyan Patel

Wish I had the extended cuts. I bought the movies on Blu-ray as they came out over time and they weren’t extended at the time of purchases. Though in my humble opinion I cannot afford a mortgage payment on this collection. Though im sure those that live in mansions and those Über fans will take this set. Oh and some of those guys who wear tracksuits and do funny things at night.

I am wondering if they are going for the people who keep buying GW products where price doesn’t make a difference. I am sure there will be people who will buy this. After all, sell 100 copies that is what almost $80 000 right there.

I am sure there is at least 100 people through the entire world that will buy this if not more. Again we are not the market to buy this.

    • MKG35

Wow any reason to have a dig at G.W I agree G.W charges way too much but even so this has nothing really to do with them.

  • euansmith

I’m sure this will be the best thing ever for someone.

  • Paul Sinanan

I feel like they forgot to include the 4 books

    • petrow84

And the Anduril, and the Evenstar, and the One Ring in adjustable diameter, and Sauron’s plate-mail glove, and Bilbo’s teapot. For such a price, that would be the bare minimum.

  • MMO Builder

It’s gouging like this that makes me happy that Christopher Tolkien sits on the Silmarillion movie rights and keeps them out of Warner’s hands

    • Davor Mackovic

It’s not gouging. When there is a disaster and bottle of water is going for $20 a pop that is gouging. All this is, is what the market will bear.

It’s just GW pricing and will stay high as long as people will pay it.

      • MMO Builder

        WTF you talking about?

      • JPMcMillen

GW has nothing to do with this. It’s only really news here because GW sold the mini games for Middle Earth.

        • Me

Actually, this is Geekery. They do all kinds of not-tabletop-wargaming postings.

You may be right, but I think it would be here regardless of GWs involvement.

As to your primary point, these people have an irrational hatred of GW and reflexively associate all of the ills of the world with them. It is almost Pavlovian.

          • “… I think it would be here regardless of GWs involvement.”

            Yep.

  • Valeli

Do I love the movie enough to buy this?

No. What does 90 percent of this even have to do with the movie? If I wanted the extended cuts of the movie I could get it for way (way) less. That’s what I’d do if I loved the movie.

To spend 800 dollars on swag, I’d need to have some sort of mild disorder.

  • amaximus167

You’d have to pay me $800 to own those Hobbit movies. I hated them.

  • MKG35

Am I the only one kinda disappointed by what’s in this collection? There doesn’t seem to be the one cool thing, the art books and maps are okay but small and the bookcase is Meh.
No large print maps or art no figures or busts no cool mini replica swords hell not even the one ring, it just looks like a half arsed attempt to milk the films one last time.

  • Arthfael

Wait, what “awesome” are you talking about? The LotR movies were passable, nice to watch once but really boring to rewatch after a while, and did not age that well. The Hobbit movies were… good for the first half of the first instalment, then a disaster.
Just give the money to a charity or, failing that, just buy that titan you’ve been yearning for for so long.

  • Rainthezangoose

leather. pffft. Not like I was going to buy it for that price. But dead cow puts me off completely

    • I believe it’s synthetic from reading the description (I also don’t buy products made out of leather)

    • kobalt60

faux leather, made from fake cows, probably sculpted from some sort of bean curd
