“Send in the Capitol Imperialis…”

Sigh. another super small super heavy that would be better represented as a gaming table

    • LeroyJenkinss

      I don’t get it.

      • TenDM

I’m pretty sure he’s saying that it’s a super small representation of a super heavy vehicle, which if it were to scale would be closer in size to the gaming table than the tanks next to it.
See the canon on the top of the Capitol Imperialis? Four of those tanks could fit inside. These things are more than mobile command centres. They’re like city sized tanks that fit entire Imperial Guard companies with ease. It’s like a transport for an entire army.

I think it’s a really nice, well made model and a fluff accurate model would look pretty stupid, but he has a point. Pretty much all the ‘super heavy’ models are fun sized compared to the way they’re described in the lore.

        • SilentPony

          Perfectly said.

        • Crevab

What is it about 40k that makes people always remember things larger than they are?

          • SilentPony

The Novels, no question. Dozens of Novels with examples that, when imported into the game, are disappointing.
A Capitol Imperialis was SO big during the defense of Taris Ultra it was running over Carnifexes and Tyrants with a single tread, let alone the rest of it’s body. When it was destroyed the blast of its reactor was basically a mushroom cloud nuclear bomb.
And entire Regiment of local PDF was based from this one tank. Not company, Regiment.

That’s Epic. That’s an entire table worth of room to fight over. You could run an entire Zone Mortalis campaign between Imperials and whatever that takes place in the bowls of an Imperialis.

I wish so much they would release a real epic space marine game and not only a titan centered game. But they said they don’t want to make something which will compete with 40k.
Obvious from a financial point off view but totally screwing us.

          • Graham Roden

Epic. Space Marine introduced all of these super heavies, us old geeks remember the sense of scale of these old classics. Personally I think it looks great.

          • Emprah

Lore and the fact that the models are not sized well. Did you ever even try fitting ten marines in a Rhino? Things are smaller so that they are easier to carry around.

        • ieyke

A Capitol Imperialis IS NOT that big.

A Capitol Imperialis scaled correctly to a Space Marine model would only be about 20 inches tall.
So actually, the model in the picture is pretty close to right.

The only reason a CI can carry 2 companies of IG is because the IG are packed in there like sardines.
Plus 2 companies is only a maximum of like 720 Guardsman, or 48 tanks.
Going by other pictures of the pictured model next to a Leman Russ, you could probably cram 48 tanks in there pretty easily. 4 floors of 12 tanks.

The Behemoth Canon description as fitting 4 Leman Russes in the barrel is absurd. No depiction of a Captiol Imperialis has EVER had a gun remotely close to that size.

    • EdgarRoutine

      thats clever..
Leviathan might be feasable given the monsterous things they are making…
but the Imperials is so massive…..

      • SilentPony

and the Imperator! The new retcon is they’re taller than oceans are deep with kilometer long weapon barrels! They’re walking islands! Like something the size of Manhattan, that can walk!
And players think they can make one from scratch?!
No one fights Imperators. You fight ON them.

  • elwin charpentier

    Nice oldhammer ork army !

    • ellobouk

Those classic orks are literally my favourite thing about the picture.

  • memitchell

I love it when my most outlandish gaming fantasies are made real. Especially when they are so well executed.

  • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I’m sure I remember this photo in an old White Dwarf?

  • BT

I swear that was a conversion from a old Star Wars Jawa Sand Crawler around 2nd-3rd edition in a White Dwarf.

    • Emprah

No it is not. The Jawa Sandcrawler had a different shape if you look at the details, it would not match even if it was upside down.

This is just a total custom made kitbash that someone made by hand from scratch. All the angles are wrong of it to be the Sandcrawler.

Or you mean that they are both box shaped vehicles? Their fronts are totally different.

  • petrow84

Sending against orks? They’ll just loot it, and build a couple of gargants out of it… it’s a capital mistake.
    I’ll see myself out.
