Are you bold enough to steal from a wizard?

Our friends from Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy brought over a copy of 10 Minute Heist: The Wizard’s Tower to showoff on this edition of the Tabletop Spotlight:

There is treasure to be had in the Wizard’s Tower and if you’re bold (or crazy) enough to claim it, fortune awaits! The rules are simple: Take a piece of treasure from the floor you’re on, or go down as many floors as you want and take a treasure. But once you go down a floor, you can never come back up! You also need to make sure you get out of the tower if you want to collect your prize. You’ll get a bonus for being the first thief out – but you’ve got to weight that decision vs you current score.

The “board” of the game is the different cards that make up the different floors of the tower. You’ll end up with a different tower every time and the size of the tower is also variable to how many players are running around.

You have to balance the value of your haul vs the curses you gain. You’ll also get bonus points for various things like sets of cards or the highest value of a specific color. You’re fellow thieves are also going to be able to see what you’re stealing so you’ll have to be extra cunning if you want to win this game. And if you’re worried about getting caught, you can always dive out the window (this just counts as having exited the tower).

Gameplay wise, it’s a really quick and frenetic game. Players are constantly moving their thieves pawn around the tower, sizing up their haul vs their opponents and trying to figure out if it’s worth bailing out or grabbing that one more piece of loot. It’s a neat game with a great concept. Plus the art is fantastic and fun. If you’re looking for a really great “filler” game then I highly recommend you check out 10 Minute Heist: The Wizard Tower!

Move through the Wizard’s Tower and take items before your fellow thieves do! Balance the curses you receive and the value of items.

10 Minute Heist: The Wizard’s Tower is easy to learn yet layered with depth. Each player is a thief taking valuable treasures from the Wizard while he’s out doing his wizardry things. The thieves must take as many items as possible before he returns.

If you’re going to steal from a Wizard, you better make sure you know you can get out alive…
