The First Order is coming to X-Wing Second Edition in Wave II. The kids are all grown-up and are ready to make the fight their own now. Take a look at what you can expect in their Conversion Pack and the new TIE/fo Fighter!
Star Wars: X-Wing Second Edition is right around the corner and to prepare for it, Fantasy Flight Games is showing off some previews from the up coming Conversion Kit for the First Order and also the TIE/fo Fighter expansion.
In X-Wing Second Edition, the First Order is being introduced as its own unique faction separate from the Galactic Empire. Veteran X-Wingplayers will be able to use the cards, tokens, and maneuver dials found in the First Order Conversion Kit to bring their existing TIE/fo fighters, TIE/sf fighters, TIE/vn silencers, and Upsilon-class shuttles into X-Wing Second Edition. Meanwhile, veteran players looking to further expand their squadrons or new players prepared to start their own fleet can sow the seeds of terror by adding more of the First Order’s take on the infamous TIE fighter.
According to FFG, in the First Order Conversion kit you can expect to get your hands on all the goods to bring your collection into the current era. There are lots of new ship cards, tokens and manuever dials as well. Additionally, because it has fewer ships that need to be upgraded, it’s priced cheaper than the Rebellion or Galactic Empire conversion packs. The contents will include:
- 7 x TIE/fo Fighters
- 5 x TIE/so Fighters
- 3 x TIE/vn Silencers
- 3 x Upsilon-class shuttles
- over 100 upgrade cards including 10 tech upgrades
There will also be a points PDF released and all this ships and cards will be imported to the X-Wing Second Edition App as well.
The TIE/fo will also be launched along side the Conversion pack. FFG showed off a few of the pilots you can fly on the Tabletop as well:
“Midnight” aka Omega Leader, is the TIE/fo premier Ace. You might recognize the ship ability from last edition. This ship looks to be quite deadly in Second Edition and clocks in with an Initiative of 6.
Epsilion Leader also got a new call-sign as “Muse” – it’s always nice to have a way to help deal with stress and Muse is a great wingman for that.
FFG also showed off one of the First Order’s special Upgrades with Fanatical:
Those First Order Pilots fight harder when they are cornered – converting a focus to a hit could be the difference between blasting your way out of a tough spot or going down in flames.
Both of these kits will be available in Q4 of 2018 along with all the Wave II goodies.
As you might expect from the successor to the Galactic Empire, the First Order fields a variety of starfighters based on classic Imperial designs. Far from simply rehashing these older ships, though, First Order fighters feature a number of refinements that give them the edge in their fight against the loathsome Resistance. The First Order Conversion Kit makes your First Edition versions of these ships immediately available for use in your X-Wing Second Edition squadrons.
Within the First Order Conversion Kit, you’ll find everything you need to strike fear into the heart of the Resistance and take your squad into the future of X-Wing, including a wide variety of new ship cards and tokens, including some of the most celebrated pilots in the First Order, such as Major Stridan, “Backdraft,” and Kylo Ren himself. These pilots are accompanied by more than one-hundred upgrade cards and new maneuver dials for your TIE/fo Fighter, Special Forces TIE, TIE Silencer, and Upsilon-class Shuttle ships, giving you plenty of tools to bring back the glory of the Empire.
Developed using technologies pioneered for the Empire’s TIE Advanced program, the TIE/fo fighter is a shielded, mass-produced TIE fighter that the First Order can use to spread terror across the galaxy.
The TIE/fo Fighter Expansion Pack includes one fully assembled and beautifully painted miniature and all the ship cards, upgrade cards, and tokens you need to add one of these frightening fighters to your First Order squadrons. The strikingly detailed, pre-painted TIE/fo fighter miniature in this expansion is accompanied by twelve ship cards—including nine unique pilots—and five upgrades, giving you all the raw power you need to begin rebuilding the Empire.
