Goatboy here again busting out another model review. This time around I got a hold of those new Mantic Orc Goar Riders. As usual I will review them based off of Value, Look/Form, and Paintability.

Value – 8 out of 10

As usual Mantic gives you a lot of bang for your buck. You get 10 of these riders in the set and at $35 bucks you get a lot of guys. I do wish we had more weapon options in there – from cool chopper thingies to other random bits of scavenged goodies. Really if you are looking at just having guys to play then this is a good set to grab some Orc Gore/Boar things.

Look/Form – 7 out of 10

You either love or hate Mantic’s orc designs. I think there could have been more variety in their sculpts. More weapon options as well as one really mean looking Gore for your leader. I do like Mantic’s design as I think these Orcs can actually move and run instead of looking like they are taking a major duce in their pants. It also gives them a much more humanoid look that isn’t so crazy looking.

Paintability – 8 out of 10

There is a lot of nooks and crannies in these models. They have layered armor and nice bits to help break up the form from metal to flesh etc. I think the Gores could be a bit bigger in places but overall they look pretty dang good. They were fun to paint too.

Overall a damned good job from Mantic. I will hopefully get some Warpath stuff soon and bust those things out for my evil painting mind. I really like the look of that 3 wheeler and hope I can convert/hack it apart to make some cool new options.
