Shield of Baal: Leviathan (Black Library) $44.99

Like a rising tide, the tendrils of Hive Fleet Leviathan thrust up from beneath the galactic plane, devouring worlds and destroying star systems. On the Shieldworlds of the Cryptus System, under the blazing light of its binary stars, the soldiers of the Imperium fight for survival against an overwhelming Tyranid assault. Yet long years of war have taught the Hive Mind much about the Imperium and its armies are adapting. New beasts and bio-weapons take to the field and the very nature of war is changing…

Shield of Baal: Leviathan is the explosive beginning of the Shield of Baal campaign, pitting the stalwart forces of the Astra Militarum and Adepta Sororitas against the relentless advance of the Hive Mind. This product charts the initial invasion of the Cryptus System and the desperate battles for survival that ensued. Inside you will find Echoes of War missions so you can reenact the battles for the Shieldworlds, rules, missions and Tactical Objectives for bitter street-to-street fighting in Cities of Death, and rules for adding fighter aces to your armies in Death from the Skies, as well as complete rules for brand new horrors of the Hive Mind, including the psychic monstrosity that is the Maleceptor and the hyper-poisonous Toxicrene!

The Black Library Weekender III
The Black Library Weekender III was this past weekend – Here’s a peek at an upcoming Horus Heresy novel.  And while there was not a lot in the way of revelations for what is to come in the future, there was fun to be had all around.

The Black Library released The Seventh Serpent, another in their limited editions at the event.  The Seventh Serpent is a direct sequel to Angel Exterminatus, the dynamite Heresy novel that featured Fulgrim’s evil scheme to use his brother Perturabo to achieve Apotheosis. The Loyalist protagonists of that novel was a ship of Iron Hands, with a surviving Salamander Atesh Tarsa and a Raven Guard, the space ninja Nykona Sharrowkyn.

According to Graham McNeill, who gave me his personal take on the novel, The Seventh Serpent follows the Sisypheum, the Iron Hands ship, after their encounter with the traitors in Angel Exterminatus.  We see the relationship between the characters evolve as Tarsa and Sharrowkyn become an accepted part of the Iron Hands crew, we find out what is happening with Captain Branthan, the mortally wounded Iron Hands captain being kept alive in stasis, and we encounter the Alpha Legion.  And of course NOTHING is what it seems!

The Seventh Serpent is a limited edition novella, and will be available at The Black Library website soon.

And finally, the Horus Heresy Weekender 2015 was announced for February 7th and 8th, 2015.

Forge World just sent out this little Friday morning preview of the new Imperial Fists upgrade kit, and some tight previews of the Horus Heresy 4.

Forge World

Forgeworld’s newest book blows open the amount of armies for Horus Heresy players.!

The Horus Heresy Book Four – Conquest is a complete expansion for the Warhammer 40,000 game – it requires the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook to use its contents.

This large format 312 page bonded leather bound hard cover book, with its exclusive slipcase, poster and reference cards is our biggest Horus Heresy book to date.

This book brings the game’s first “full featured” Knight armylist that includes all the variants made fo far by GW and Forgeworld.  Then on top of that you get the Soloar Auxilia list giving you the Imperial Army.

So now 30K players have:
– 12 legions
– Mechanicus
– Knights
– Imperial Army

And new Forge World Imperial Fist upgrades:

It also appears that Forgeworld has caught the “limited edition” flu going round and you will have to pay through the nose for one of those 2000 copies before the standard edition comes out.

These are previews from the Forge World Bulletin.

Finally, some news that really is no surprise:
