Harry Potter Hogwarts

The New Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle Card game is coming this month – Come take a peek at the game!

One of the busiest game/demo sections at GenCon 2016 this year was for Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle. Well we were able to grab a quick demo and see what all the fuss was about:

After watching a demo or two of this game I can see what all the hype was about. It’s a classic 2-4 player cooperative Deck-building game with a Harry Potter theme! Players take the roll of 4 famous Hogwarts students and do battle with increasing deadly threats. It’s a really great system because it ramps up the difficulty as the players start to learn their respective decks.

In the box to start, there are 4 different characters to play as and 7 different “games” to play. Each game is a unique challenge deck for the players to face-off against. 7 Games…7 books…hmmm. Anyways, the gameplay is fast and simple. If you’re played any cooperative deck games (like LOTR) or Deckbuilding games like Star Realms then you’ll have a pretty good idea of how this game works.

Now, we only got a peek at the first game deck and a handful of cards. But the art looks good as well as all the accessories. I’m looking forward to getting a copy of this game because I have a lot of non-gamer friends who are big fans of Harry Potter – this would be a fantastic introduction to these types of games. Plus, I wouldn’t be surprised to see expansions in the future. The Potterverse is still growing after-all…

The forces of evil are threatening to overrun HOGWARTS™ castle in this new cooperative game! It’s up to four students to ensure the safety of the school by defeating villains and consolidating their defenses. Players take on the role of a HOGWARTS student: Harry, Ron, Hermione or Neville, each with his or her own personal deck of cards. To secure the castle from the forces of evil the students must work together to build more powerful decks using iconic Wizarding World characters, spells, and items.  Defeat all the villains including He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and win the game!
