The Legio Custodes are getting rules for use in Horus Heresy and the Contemptor Dreadnoughts are getting rules for use in Burning of Prospero!

November’s White Dwarf is going to white-hot for all you Heresy fans – Chrismas is coming early!

The basic stats aren’t that much different than the rules for 40k. However, there are differences specifically in the points cost. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The Heresy Era versions also come with some unique special rules, extra wargear options (like grenades), and even their armor is different.

When you’re playing with your opponent, just be clear which version you’re using and try not to mix them up…

Contemptor Dreadnought – Burning of Prospero

The Dreadnought is a beat-stick! A D12 armor along with all the other attacks it has is downright scary. The White Dwarf also comes with a special scenario for using the Contemptor Dreadnought as well. It’s nice to see that Games Workshop is making a concerted effort to add cross-over appeal among their two Horus Heresy board games.

I’m hoping that we get rules for Cataphractii Terminators in BoP and also Tartaros Terminators for BoC. That’s just more content for them to produce in the following White Dwarfs – and more options for players to revisit those games with…sounds like a win-win to me!

Personally, I’m liking the move on Games Workshop’s part to add special scenarios and additional units to their “other” games in the White Dwarf. I’m also hoping that these all become consolidated and free on their website. I’m hopeful, but I’m also not holding my breath. Still, these additions are just one more reason to snag a copy of the White Dwarf for November.

The Horus Heresy: Burning of Prospero and Betrayal at Calth $300

Containing a copy each of both the Burning of Prospero and Betrayal at Calth games, this is a great purchase for anyone who wants to recreate two epic battles from The Horus Heresy.

Crammed full of Space Marines in both MKIII and MKIV power armour, this is a great start to a Horus Heresy miniatures collection featuring as it does a variety of unit types, special characters and even a Contemptor Dreadnought.
