The strangest things happen in Dunwich. Come see what new terror is lurking in the first major Arkhame Horror Card Game Expansion!

The Dunwich Legacy is out now for the Arkham Horror: The Card Game. If you haven’t played the game yet, it’s a lot of fun. We recently unboxed the core set (which has been on back order due to popularity) and afterwards I rushed out and scooped up a copy.

Personally, I’m really liking this game. It’s got a lot of elements I can appreciate. It’s Co-op, it’s a fun mix of RPG & LCG, and it’s down right hard. It wouldn’t be any fun if the game just rolled over and lost, would it?

Now, Fantasy Flight Games has put out the first major expansion. It’s already had 2 stand alone adventures released and another 3 “Mythos Packs” announced. But this is the first set that increases the player card pool and adds some new investigators into the mix. I’ve already talked about a few of the preview cards and a couple of the investigators – and went on a bit of a rant on why this game is soooo good. But let’s take another look at one of the investigators that will be in this expansion set.

“Ashcan” Pete is a regular in the Arkham Horror franchise. He’s shown up in just about every product in the Arkham Horror Files universe. Personally, I get a kick out of the idea that this loney drifter is actually a fighter against the dark forces of Arkham. Plus he’s got a dog named Duke, so he’s automatically awesome in my book.

Pete’s ability is really powerful coupled with the right assets. Luckily, he comes with Duke at the start of every game so he’s got at least one great card to start with:

Pete and Duke make an really effective team – you’re basically rocking 4’s in 3 out of 4 stats so you’re can pretty much do anything fairly competently. One of the things I really like about this game is the ability you have to create your own story and character via the deck you assemble. Because Pete and Duke make such a great team, you don’t really need a ton of weapon cards. This allows you to opt for other types of cards. With a little thought you can take the starter deck and learn to cope with the horrors of Arkham in new and creative ways.

If you’d like to learn more about the kind of things you can do with “Ashcan” Pete, then check out the full article from FFG. Or, if you’re brave enough, you can dive right in to The Dunwich Legacy which should be hitting stores by the time you read this. So what are you waiting for – there are such sights to see…

The Dunwich Legacy

Several months ago, three Miskatonic University professors armed themselves with secret knowledge, traveled to Dunwich, and brought an end to the strange and terrifying creature that had been terrorizing the secluded village. Now their story continues in The Dunwich Legacy expansion for Arkham Horror: The Card Game.

Your mentor, Dr. Armitage, was one of those three professors. When his colleagues go missing, he fears the worst and asks for your help. With its five mini cards and 156 full-size cards, The Dunwich Legacy challenges you to find the missing professors, launching you into a campaign that leads to Miskatonic University, the notorious Clover Club, and beyond.

Five new investigators arrive to offer their services, and you can arm them with fifty-nine new player cards (including a complete playset of each). Pursue new deck-building strategies and new styles of play. You’ll need all the help you can get as you play the expansion’s two scenarios and encounter all manner of new terrors – from backroom thugs and bad luck to arcane hexes and wholly unnatural abominations.
