Peter Dinklage returns to the big screen in this new sci-fi thriller.

The premise is a bit of a sci-fi trope – recording memory or dreams, having it all go horribly wrong, and someone tracking down what caused it to go wrong. Ex: Strange Days, Brainstorm, Unforgettable, Until the End of the World, etc. The official synopsis for this take:

The film explores the unexplained death of Gordon Dunn (Martin Donovan), a visionary scientific pioneer whose body is found shortly after the unveiling of his newest work: a device able to extract, record and play a person’s memories. Gordon’s wife, Carolyn (Julia Ormond), retreats into her house and cuts off contact with the outside world when a mysterious man (Peter Dinklage) shows up. After stealing the machine, he uses it to try and solve the mystery, beginning an investigation of memories that lead him to unexpected and dangerous places.

Not mentioned there: this was one of the last projects Anton Yelchin completed.

I think the main pull is watching Dinklage and the cast work, not so much the rest of it. I’ll definitely catch the movie if it shows up on a streaming service I subscribe to.

Rememory will be on Google Play on August 24th and a limited number of theaters on September 8th
