The Games Workshop Rumor Engine spins up a new “tail” (or maybe a horn?) with the latest tease!

According to Einstein, space-time is curved…and so is the latest Rumor Engine teaser from Games Workshop. Check it out:

“This week’s Rumour Engine should satisfy your thirst for new reveal – or make it worse…”

Well now that is very interesting, no? What the heck could this thing be? It could certainly be a horn, tail, or tentacle. The strange part is that the “inside” of the object is constricted (you can tell by looking at the ridges) and the outside is stretched which would explain why it’s smooth. Because of this I don’t think it’s tail. It it was, it would have rings on it like the skaven tails:

I’m also not convinced it a tentacle, either. It looks more like a horn of a beast-type creature. In nature we see this type of horn in creatures like water buffalo:

Water Buffalo Horn – note the ridges on the inside and smooth curved side

Horns are different than antlers – and we’ve seen quite a few GW antlers in the Nurgle Release:

Great Unclean One – with Antlers! Note the ridges run along the length, not the width of the Antlers.

Now, it could just be a style choice by the sculptor. Or they could really know their animal anatomy. Either option works and we pretty much know Nurgle is done getting releases for a while. My vote is that it’s a horn and it looks attached to something – which would be a head or a helm.

They have Horns – that ain’t no Bull.

Funnily enough, I’ve recently jumped back into playing Skyrim and the structure of the horn reminds me a lot of the helms that are in the game. Specifically the Iron Helmet. And for some reason or another that iconic helmet just makes me think of all those Barrows and the undead Draugr. And with the Malign Portents heating up I’m having a hard time not making a mental connection between the two. Could this be a new horned helm for the Undead?

But there is also another faction that has a boat-load of Horned Helms. Chaos Warriors:

Those bad-boys haven’t had a new sprue since 2008! Now, you could always use Chaos Knights…but anyhow, I’m just spit balling…

Or maybe it’s something in a completely different direction – something from 40k! And if that’s the case the only fit I can think of would be Chaos, specifically Chaos Space Marines:

I mean, that kit has been around since 2006 – which is when the copyright on those molds was stamped:

That makes them even older than those Chaos Warrior Sprues…Maybe these are some new horns on a new CSM boxed set!
