Geekery: New Look at Stephen King’s ‘Castle Rock’

The town at the center of a lot of the author’s works has it’s own show – and it looks appropriately creepy.

There have been a lot of King related projects in the last 18 months – some great (IT, Gerald’s Game, 1922), some not so much (Dark Tower, The Mist). Castle Rock is attempting to pull a good chunk of King’s stories set in/near the fabled town in Maine into a series that’s telling an entirely new story. It’s a lot to take on, and if they can pull it off it could be great.

J.J. Abrams is executive producer along with the show’s writers, Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason. The cast includes some familiar names – IT’s Bill Skarsgård and Carrie’s Sissy Spacek are among the names on the central character list.

Hulu released a teaser in October that started to paint a picture of a town with a lot of dark secrets.

The new teaser fills in some of the gaps with some familiar characters and actors, but still leaves a lot of questions.

So far I’ve seen references to Cujo, Shawshank Redemption, Different Seasons, Delores Claiborne, and Needlful Things.

Which stories/characters do you recognize?
