40K Deep Thought: Are the Drukhari Now a Horde Army?

We’ve got the codex have noticed that the Drukhari are super cheap. Cheap enough to enter the horde side of the game.

I love the Drukhari, and think that their combination of speed, lethality and frailty make them one of the most unique races in the game.

But as I’ve been going over the new codex I’m taken aback at JUST HOW CHEAP you can field these units. Here’s just a handful of examples:

  • Kabalite Warriors (5) 30 pts
  • Wyches (10) 80pts
  • Ravager w/Disintegrators 125pts
  • Venom w/Splintercannon 65pts

These guys and girls are super cheap.  Their stat-lines are solid and the armoury of Commorragh is nasty, and not terribly expensive.  I think GW answered the conundrum of how to make the glass cannon army viable with – “flood the table with them”.

If you think that Ravager is nasty, wait till you see 6 of them in a Spearhead Detachment for 750pts – blasting you to pieces from behind a gazillion Kabalites screaming down on you.

I’m thinking of picking up a couple of Start Collecting boxes as the minis are still amongst the most beautiful in the game – but I’m somewhat taken aback at the concept that the Dark Kin may be the most numerous of all the Eldar factions on the tabletop.  Something just feels weird about that…
