With Han and the Rebel Commandos now out, we can finally field a Rebel list from the battle of Endor. Lets look at what that might look like.

Han Solo and the Rebel Commandos have come to Star Wars:Legion. With these iconic units now available players are looking for ways to work them into their lists. Personally I’m all about building themed lists for games, and with these additions to the game  the obvious next step would be to build a list that represents the Rebels at Endor. Here’s what I’ve come up with.

The List

Han Solo [120]
Improvised Orders [10]
Duck and Cover [8]Leia Organa [90]
Esteemed Leader [5]Rebel Troopers [40]
MPL-57 Ion Trooper [32]

Proton Charge Saboteur [26]

Targeting Scopes [6]

794/800
Commands:

Somebody Has to Save Our Skins
Change of Plans
Reckless Diversion
No Time for Sorrows
Coordinated Bombardment
Sorry About the Mess

The Idea

The basic idea here is to represent the Rebel forces on Endor. To that end I obviously had to take Both Han and Leia. While Luke was of course on Endor as well, he left before the battle proper began, and I would say is less central to events happening on the Sanctuary Moon. Of course the Rebel Commandos famously took part in the battle as well, so three units of them represent their participation. I’ve armed them with Proton Charges both to try the weapon out and because we see Rebel forces on Endor use them. Since we have to take some Corps units, Rebel Troopers seemed the obvious choice, Fleet Troopers would just be out of place the regular Rebel Troopers look the part. When Chewie comes out I’d obviously drop some stuff to make room for him as well. Ultimately I long for the day when Ewoks are added as a Rebel Corps choice.

Playing the List

Like the force this list represents this army needs some finesse to work properly. While it’s got a fair number of models, its all basic infantry based and everyone has white defense dice.  To work the army really needs to stick to cover, and use dodge tokens if possible. With Scout 2, the Rebel Commandos should be able to get good positions at the start of the game to gain both cover and help them take control of objectives.

Leia, Han and the Commandos will have to work together to take out enemy infantry. While Han and Leia are not the beat stick that Luke or Vader is, both have better range and decent attacks. Leia is also very useful at buffing her allies, in particular the Rebel Troopers. The Rebel Troopers, while able to fight infantry, are the army’s main anti-vehicle units. With Impact Grenades and the Ion Troopers they can deal with enemy armor. With two leaders the army also has access to a lot of unique commands making it pretty flexible.

Final Thoughts

For representing the Rebels on Endor I think this list does about as good a job as you can with the current models. While I want to try the Proton Charges, its possible the Sniper Rifles are better overall, giving their unit pierce.  I have the points to swap them out, so I would probs give both a try. I’m also thinking that Improvised Orders on Han is most likely wasted. Esteemed Leader, or something on another unit might be a better use of the points. I like what I’ve got going here, now I’ve just got to get it on the table and see how it plays.
