RPG: Robotech Gets Not One But Two RPGs This Year
Robotech is getting two different roleplaying games this year, bringing Robotech and Macross Plus to the tabletop. More details inside.
Harmony Gold has been leaning heavily into their new Robotech RPG endeavours, with two different RPG releases in the works. Both are set to be out later this year, and being helmed via two different companies. The first game, Robotech: The Roleplaying Game is being developed by Strange Machine Games in partnership with Harmony Gold–you may have noticed their Kickstarter last summer. They are also the ones developing the new Robotech Board Games that will be releasing later this year–so if you’ve been looking to fight the Zentraedi, this is going to be a great year for you.
The second game, announced earlier this month, brings the world of Robotech to Savage Worlds with Robotech: A Macross Saga Role-Playing Game, developed by Battlefield Press, also due out later this year.

In cooperation with Strange Machine Games and Harmony Gold, Battlefield Press International announces Robotech: A Macross Role Playing Game for the Savage Worlds game engine. This setting will utilize material from the new Adventure Edition of the game engine. The game will include stats for the notable characters, background of the events that are happening during the setting (along with current information), and spaceships and gear all done in Savage Worlds game information. It will require the core Savage Worlds book from Pinnacle Entertainment Group to make full use of the material presented in this book.
The setting it tentatively scheduled for an April 2019 release and is written by Jason Lang and Jonathan M. Thompson. Jason and Jonathan are both long time Robotech and Savage Worlds fans. Layout to be done by the fabulous Morne Schaap. Who is a wonderful layout artist.
