We got our hands on the new Genestealer Cults Codex and it’s going to be hot. Come take a tour with us as we go over the book!

The Genestealer Cults army arrived on the scene and shook-up the game with their unique style. They were a really great example of how an army’s playstyle could match it’s background. How does their 8th edition codex stack-up? Take a look:

The Codex is packed full of great info about the Genestealer Cults and how they work. There are some cool new maps in the book as well as a ton of interesting lore including all the new characters and background about them. It also goes into more detail about the different Cults and their backstories which was a nice touch. There is lots of art, pictures and 40k-grimdark goodness in this book (as we’ve all come to expect from GW).

Aside from all the background, this army on the tabletop is going to be very different than pretty much any other army in the game right now. They have a completely unique deployment setup from everyone else using those “blips” – they basically have hidden deployment! On top of that, they have a very comprehensive rule-set for how their Astra Militarum allies work with Brood Brothers. You can tell that GW was really trying to figure out how to balance this army before it got it’s codex. How well did they do? Well we’ll all have to wait and see how that plays out on the meta in the weeks to come!

The Genestealer Cults Codex is a 120 pages of purestrain deviousness. All the previous units are back and now, with the arrival of all the other units, it really feels like the army is even more well rounded for action on the tabletop. This army is going to be pretty character heavy for the bonuses and overlapping aura abilities – if you can get all your ducks in a row, they are going to be a truly devastating force on the tabletop.

Don’t call it a comeback – they’ve been here for YEARS…
