Meet the rag-tag bunch of core writers and staff that keeps the BoLS ship afloat – that you’ll be supporting with your Prime membership.

Larry mentioned that Prime helps support our writers yesterday. I thought I’d give a brief introduction to our core writing staff, so you have faces to match the by-lines. We are all life-long fans of tabletop games, several of us have worked in the industry for 10+ years, and one of us owned an independent LGS. We love what we do here at BoLS. It’s a privilege to be able to share our knowledge and passion for games and geek culture. Enough of the words… here are the pictures!

Larry Vela – Editor, 40K, Age of Sigmar, Old Timer/Librarian

Our dear leader started BoLS in 2006 as a personal blog. He’s a lapsed pilot, has been playing 40k since its release in 1989, is a WWI history buff, and he loves a good cup of coffee with Czech tea cookies. Battlecry: “Back in my day…!”

Adam Harrison – Lead Video Producer, 40k, Age of Sigmar, FFG

He’s an LGS staff veteran that has been playing GW games for 20+ years, he’s been with BoLS for 6 years. He’s a big Arkham Horror fan, lifelong video game nerd, and the tallest guy in the office that grabs things off high shelves for the rest of us hobbits.

Thomas Reidy aka Goatboy – 40K, Artist

Thomas has been a 40k tournament circuit fixture for 15+ years, and has been on the BoLS writing staff since its founding in 2006. He’s a comic book store staff veteran, has an IMBD page, is a fan of wearing various loud shades of pink, and is the “Reigning GW Warhammer 40k North American GT Champion.” Battle cry: “AROOO!”

J.R. Zambrano – RPGs, 40k, Age of Sigmar, Video Production

He’s been a D&D fan and party splitting DM for over 20 years, is a member of an improv comedy troupe, creates arguably the world’s worst puns, and has the best hair of all of us. He’s been with BoLS for 5 years.

Abe Apfel – 40k, Everything Star Wars

Abe is a former LGS owner, has been playing GW games for 25+ years (RIP WFB), holds two degrees in American history, is a walking Star Wars encyclopedia, and taught English in Japan for a year. He is the real goofball of the staff, and has been with us for 12 years.

Mars Garrett – Streaming Producer, Social Media, Pop Culture & Toys

I’m another LGS staff veteran, I started playing GW games in 2008, and have been on the BoLS staff for 9 years. I spend way too much time watching movies with less than a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I’m also a desk toy collector and a pilates/aerial arts devotee. Battle cry: “That’s totally not how that works!”

Matt Sall – Board Games

Matt is a game designer that created a way to play all of the Catan expansions in one massive game; he’s been with BoLS for 2 years. He’s a roller derby fanatic, electrical engineer, and has a fondness for character onesies.

Adam Lebo – Privateer Press

Adam has been playing Privateer games for 8 years and has run several major Warmachine tourneys here in Austin. He’s also a life-long board game enthusiast, GenCon fan, has been with us for a year, and isn’t afraid of wampas.

Clint Lienau – Age of Sigmar

He started his GW journey with AoS when it hit the scene, and joined our staff last year. His day job is as a professional actor and stagehand, and he’s trained in stage combat. He’s got great quixotic qualities that make him fun to have in the office.

Jennifer Lynn Larsen aka Mayhem’s Muse – Cosplay, Streaming Producer

Jenn been in the cosplay and modeling scene most of her adult life. She is a competitive traditional archer that has competed in the Conquest Cup in Turkey and the Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan. She’s also a life-long board game and video game fan, and pinball addict. She’s been part of the crew for 2 years.

Harry – BoLS Cat

Harrison is the resident office cat and our unofficial mascot. He enjoys sleeping in the middle of game tables, staring down Baneblades, and having long conversations about why humans should stop doing everything and pet him.
