The drip, drip, drip on Black Templars wont stop. Here’s the latest on the black clad crusaders, the Fists, and where their rules will turn up.

As we sink our teeth into part 2 of the Space Martine releases being stretchd out across the fall, there has been a slow but steady drip of rumors and GW teases of the Black Templars.

We appear to be into the 2 supplemental codexes a month pattern, and expect to see the next two appear in October.  You will also note that GW has been pushing the first volume of Psychic Awakening – Phoenix Rising heavily this past 2 weeks, meaning it can’t be more than a few weeks out – and it’s teaser videos included a Black Templars crusade fleet.

The Rumors

Here’s the full roundup of all the Black Templars rumors, including the new stuff.

  • Look for a boxed set including the Black Templar and Orks in October.
  • There will be a new plastic BT character included.
  • Look for a Black Templars “minicodex” to be included in the boxed set, containing rules.
  • Imperial Fists Supplemental will be released shortly thereafter (with Primaris Lysander)

Thoughts

We’ve already talked about how this rumored BT/Ork set makes a lot of sense as it would follow in the footsteps of the Wake the Dead, Tooth & Claw series. I would expect either a Primaris Lt, or if we are very lucky a generic chapter character like the Emperor’s Champion. Everyone is expecting the Imperial fists supplemental codex to include their Successor Chapters, which would include the Crimson Fists and Black Tempalrs. The Fists codex could be shaping up to be a beefier one similar to the Ultramarines due to all the IF/CF/BT characters and background.

I would expect the BT mini-codex in the boxed set to be a duplication of the datasheets coming in the full IF codex. I doubt GW would exile the chapter’s rules to only being available in the boxed set.

Also Lysander will be a monster. I bet he’s just as large and beefy as Primaris Calgar.

~Have at it.
