Take a look at what to watch in the theaters and on your couch – next Wednesday is Christmas day, so I’m smashing two weeks’ worth of releases into this list.

Movies Opening Before the End of the Month

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – In Theaters December 20th
Starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, and Oscar Isaac
The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once more as Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron’s journey continues. With the power and knowledge of generations behind them, the final battle commences.

Little Women – In Theaters December 25th
Starring Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, and Eliza Scanlen
Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters – four young women each determined to live life on her own terms — is both timeless and timely.

Spies in Disguise – In Theaters December 25th
Starring Will Smith and Tom Holland
Super spy Lance Sterling and scientist Walter Beckett are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is … not. But when events take an unexpected turn, this unlikely duo is forced to team up for the ultimate mission that will require an almost impossible disguise – transforming Lance into the brave, fierce, majestic… pigeon. Walter and Lance suddenly have to work as a team, or the whole world is in peril. “Spies in Disguise” flies into theaters this Christmas.

Just Mercy – In Theaters December 25th
Starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, and Brie Larson
A powerful and thought-provoking true story, “Just Mercy” follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson and his history-making battle for justice. After graduating from Harvard, Bryan had his pick of lucrative jobs. Instead, he heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley.

1917 – In Theaters December 25th
Starring George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman
At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield and Blake are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers—Blake’s own brother among them.
